The Manchester United Thread

My soundtrack for tonight :D (It makes sense to me).

A well deserved win for United tonight, and (even as an opposing fan) it's great to see Ibra scoring in the PL. I can't quite believe people doubted him in the first place, he's pure class (and he's in my fantasy team).

Pogba and Zlatan interview, well worth a watch

..... Also, barring their rightly so disallowed goal, I don't recall De Gea having to make a save?!?! How long has it been since we've been able to say that?

TBF they don't have any real quality threat outside of Tadic up there which contributed to that. Both Redman and Long got in behind Bailly a few times switching and completely fluffed their lines. The weak side is definitely Valencia's. Great going forward but most all Southampton's good work was coming down his flank defensively. City next time out at home have far better players than Southampton to take those chances so need to well tighten up there.

Was a typical Mourinho performance for me. Not pretty to watch for the majority. Clinical when the chance came. Second goal kills it. Then when the oppositions leaving gaps overpower them breaking the other way. Which did lead to some entertaining attacking at times second half as you noted.

Fairly solid, if unspectacular routine Mourinho win. Which for his first home game to make it 2 out of 2 he'll of been delighted with. As Hull should be next Sat'day to leave a very satisfactory start going into the break. Job done.

Very quite crowd ala City last Sat'day tea-time which surprised me for the first home game under him. Sat back waiting to be entertained after all the big money additions?

I think Southampton are one of the better footballing teams in the league personally, surprised if they struggle too much this year. Although I'd agree they do lack real quality up front, although Tadic and Long are better than what some other teams have in the league. Also Jay Rodriguez is going to be important for them, if he can get back to his best.

Rodriguez is intriguing. Brilliant to see him back playing but not expecting much until well into 2017. More or less 2 years out of football is a heck of a time to come back from.

They reckon when you've done your ACL, it takes as long back as the time you were out before you're back to full fitness/ strength.

Its gonna take time.

I think United played well but lets not discredit the fact that Southampton were clinically woeful in terms of finishing yesterday. The fact that they had Redmond up front when Austin was on the bench was actually baffling.

strange comment I spoke to about 7 mates who all went and they said it was bouncing. Apart from maybe 15m spell in the first half. Didn't sound quite on my ultra hd on sky.

Oh let it be! :)

United not their best but always in control. Could have destroyed them second half. Pogba excellent.

The manager wants to make Redmond the next Henry by turning him into a striker from a winger

Fellaini seems to of gained a lot more tactical/positional discipline, been impressed with him under Mourinho. Nice partnership with Herrera and now Pogba. Be interesting to see how a our midfield partnership develops and whether Fellaini will play majority of the time with Pogba.
