The Manchester United Thread

Such a model professional.

I Hope he stays and somehow gets his chance in perhaps the Europa League/League Cup/Fa Cup and impresses, to give Jose a mega headache. Having said that, as much as I love him, with gritted teeth I can understand why Mourinho would see a 32 year old injury-prone midfielder surplus to requirements with Pogba (world class), Herrera (younger, more energetic), Schneiderlin (see Herrera), Fellaini (offers a different dimension, and is younger) and Carrick (I think in a toss up between him and Bastian, 10 years of knowledge at the club sees him edge the Bayern legend), so I can understand that moving on as a club, how Jose would not see Bastian in his plans. Can he regard himself majorly unlucky? Yes. Will Manchester United be winning trophies in 10 years when he's retired and gone? Let's hope so. In the grand scheme of things, Jose is the boss of the biggest club in the world (in my opinion), and he will make as many unpopular decisions as he will popular ones, but his track record suggests he knows what he's doing.

I respect Schweinsteiger as a player, but I don't really see what he achieves by staying here if Mourinho has cast him aside and has no plans for him. Other than earning the big wages he will be on of course. I just thought a player like him would want to play again rather than fade his career out.

Having said that, if I was Mourinho I would just make him part of the squad, useful player to have but no way he will change his stance now I don't think.

^ Just as you mention King Eric, Balotelli tries so hard to be like Cantona, Ibrahimovic, etc. in regards to being an egoistic footballing genius, scoring goals for fun. Only problem is, he doesn't back up his words, and for all the potential he had in his younger Inter days, he's proved to be nothing more than a bang average striker. In actual fact, in recent years, I'd go as far as saying a poor striker; only scored 2 league goals since April 2014? Woeful. Also, he has been nothing but disrespectful towards United, whether it be on Social Media, flashing silly T-shirts after scoring, or picking unnecessary fights with them on the pitch, so even if he happened to be decent (which imo he's not) then he'd have little to no chance of joining, Jose isn't an idiot.

Worst rumour of the century, but I have no doubt in his pathetic little brain he thinks there's a chance Mourinho would sign him. Rashford ****** all over him alone, let alone Martial, Ibra etc.

Honestly, I think he will play a part in the end. Jose has probably made it clear it will be hard for him. But there will be injuries. And you can't go wrong if you can pull someone like him up. I don't think it's money either. He's on 150k a week, not 280k. Could do Le that MLS. For him to say that suggests Jose may have softened his stance, as we've seen with Blind and Mata

Schweinsteiger definitely didn't join United/doesn't want to remain at United just for the money. It's clear as day that money isn't his holygrail. No doubt he will have more lucrative offers but he's a champion, he loves competing at the highest level.

To be honest I think this is all about Raiola trying his damnedest to 'conjure' up interest via 'fake' interest to get a deal done before the deadline and not Balotelli. So far today he's been linked to Everton, Nantes, Utd and now the Sion President is claiming to be in negotiations with Raiola.

I think Schweinstiger will be a great player to have in the squad. Has great experience a winning mentality, and must also be great for the younger players also. Can see Mou using him especially in cups and Europa. Possibly injury cover for Carrick in the league. Read somewhere that there is no problem between Mou and him. Mou just told him game time would be limited and other players were ahead of him.

Happy with that. Even though away ties in the cup are always a potential banana skin. Would like to see -Romero, TFM, Smalling, Jones, Darmian, Herrera, Schniederlin, Memphis, Mky, Lingard, Rashford starting 11.

With the likes of Johnstone, Rojo, Tuanzebe, Pereira, Carrick, Rooney on the bench. Not a bad second team that maybe Young also depending on how many subs you can have.
