The Manchester United Thread

Manchester City have decided to contest the violent conduct charge handed to Sergio Aguero. XD
Such special snowflakes.

Good what was winston Reid thinking lunging his throat at agueros elbow like that

Tuanzebe started in midfield(?) I think and Henderson came off the bench for England u20's in a 1-0 win against Brazil.

So apparently the Ivory Coast havent yet qualified for the African cup of nations and tomorrow face Sierra Leone in a crunch game. If Sierra Leone win they will take the spot from the Ivory Coast to go and we will get to keep bailly for the winter months. So come on Sierra leone

Nicky ****: Head of Academy
Performance Manager: Nick ***
Academy Consultant: John Peacock
Academy Scouts: Henny de Regt, Roy Beukenkamp
U18 Coach: Kieran McKenna
Recruitment: Steve Brown
Head of player Development: John Murtaugh

So this much has been changed(from what has been in the media) in the 6 months or so. Pretty sure I'm missing a lot but seems like we've added a lot more staff and scouts as per Nicky ****'s latest interview.

Good stuff.

Are Man Utd going to have 'State of the art youth facilities' on FM now?

Took til 2029 for them to do that for me!

If you're City you'd be best appealing that. Even if it leads to an extended ban, cut your loses and have Auggero the Utd game.

The appeal is dealt with within a week so of the ban is upheld he will still be banned for the United game. They changed it to stop teams doing that

Forgot all about the AFCON, I know we've had a few African players in the past, but I think Bailly is the first real key African player we've had, so it's never really damaged us in the past. It has always hit Chelsea pretty hard in the 21st century, and Yaya was a big miss for city a few years back etc., but this is the only time I would recall it hurting us.

Edit; Mane will be a huge miss for your lot Scouseinthehouse.

its officially a 3 game ban so he will miss the derby which is good for us but they are still dangerous without aguero.i fancy us to get a result though

Ivory Coast aren't doing great right now they drew 0-0 with Sudan away and beat them 1-0 at home and drew 0-0 with Sierra Leone at a neutral venue which was technically away. So they have only scored one goal, although with bailly that is all you need. Sierra Leone are only ranked 19 places below them so it could happen although is unlikely but will certainly be backing Sierra Leone

If Aguero doesn't play in the derby, which he won't i don't think, then good, as he's one of the best #9's in world football... however, I'm just wondering will it make it trickier to break them down as a unit, especially as Pep has been around long enough to recognise that away sides in big games like this have to compensate a little bit, could it make City more solid overall? Will they set up slightly more rigidly for the draw in Sergio's absence? A recent example of what I'm trying to say is I don't think Portugal would've won the Euro's if Ronaldo didn't go off injured in that final, as even though Nani was super in that tournament, they all still looked to get everything to Ronaldo, ball to feet, put him through, tried to get it on his head, everything... and I know City have more match winners other than Aguero as opposed to what Portugal had without Ronaldo, but it still doesn't take away the fact that Aguero is probably as important to City as Ronaldo was to Portugal in terms of being the focal point of attack. I personally would like to see Pep just go for a straight like-for-like swap in Iheanacho starting for the banned Aguero, and be prepared for what we've seen all season, but something tells me Guardiola accepts that Aguero is banned and simply won't be available (regardless of any appeals), and may have something up his sleeve come next Saturday.

I swear Mourinho v Pep is almost as exciting as the derby/6 pointer alone, I'm intrigued.

He will indeed. Only Ojo, Origi or Wynaldum to a lesser extent have anything like his speed in behind. But at least there's far more options than had this occurred last season.

Bonus Joel Matip doesn't get along with the Cameroonian coach and is refusing to play for them. That would of been as big a loss as Mane for differing reasons the other end the park

ACON runs from Sa, Jan. 14 through Su, Feb. 5. Maximum 3 weeks, 2 days. So I'd write off most all January figuring they'll be meeting up a week or two before going Gabon. L'pool have nice run of games with only really Utd away the 14th weekend and Chelsea home the start of Feb. to really be concerned missing the league. Throw in a potential 2 legged League Cup semi and the 3rd/ 4th round the FA Cup too like.

Nottin' you don't know when you take on African players. That's footie. Next man up!

The biggest issue for any team this season with AFCON will be Leicester they will lose mahrez, musa and slimaini for it and that would leave them a lot weaker up front. Hard to see them scoring a lot of goals then especially if something happens to Vardy or Drinkwater
