The Manchester United Thread

Does anyone else notice how our wingers/forwards have only ever been effective off the bench? Mkhitaryan & Rashford were both superb coming on against Hull, changed the game, and Rashford also looked really dangerous in the Manc derby when coming on, but were both supremely quiet against Manchester City (Mkhitaryan) & Watford today (Rashford) when being handed starting positions. Martial has only ever really started this season, and has been quiet in every game. Lingard was practically nonexistent when starting against City... and don't get me wrong, I'm not an idiot, I know it's easier to have an impact with fresh legs against players that have played for 60-80 minutes, but surely it doesn't excuse how they're all so quiet as starters throughout the game. So instead of talking so much about the middle of the park, should we be focusing more on getting the ball to our widemen a lot more earlydoors in a game? It may not quite be the Mourinho way, but it's the United way, and they're probably our best bet of making things happen.

Whatever the 'Utd way' is/ was, you've sold out on that when you hired him. This all out attacking football/ playing with two wingers/ promoting youth- You went for totally the wrong manager for that in desperation for success.

You may well ultimately get that success under him. But it won't be any 'way' you're used to.

The interesting thing from an outsiders POV is how long both the match going supporter and some of the big names not used to this style of play that have come in will wear everything if the results aren't following.

They only got playing time when the opposition was tired and parking the bus. Things are way different against rested, strong opponents. It made no sense to start Mikh in one of our toughest games of the season without having him started not even once. Same goes for Lingard over Rashford.

As for Rashford, i think he's more a 9 than a winger, so he'll take some time to play the same level in the wings.

That all started because Rojo lost the bill upfield and never made any effort to get back, leaving there winger with a free run and a century to pick out the perfect cut back. I agree though Schniederlin should of tracked him better.
Schniederlin was at the left side of the pitch when that happened.

I still have zero respect for the English media, these headlines are in no way beneficial to Manchester United. It'll make Mourinho more stubborn to not drop him, whilst Rooney's confidence will deflate even more to an all-time low, it just makes things worse imo.
Rooney will never be dropped no matter what the press write.

Any news on Martial's concussion? Presume he'll be out this midweek at least.

Still can't believe he was left on the park. I thought there was supposed to be proper protocol in place for head injuries now but apparently not. Which you DON'T chance and f around with!

God knows honesty no idea! Most probs something in his contract, surely 3 managers can't all be so blind to see what he's performing like in the pitch?

NO player/ manager/ director/ owner is bigger than the club. Or shouldn't be.

When you make someone in effect that and undroppable, you're going down a slippery slope.

Even worse then he should have filled in for Rojo!

But still, Bailly was very shrewd in hesitantly checking his run to play him offside, and then playing to the whistle, he trusted the official would call it (which I still have no idea how he didn't).

^Skip until around 46 seconds, that's when the pass is about to be played, and watch Bailly just curve/halt his run to play him off just 10 yards from the official.

cant see him having something in is contract like that but what ever he needs to be droped for a few games to see where we are but you cant just put it all on him no matter how much every 1 seems to dislike him

I've not put it all on him just said he was part of the current problem.

I have a little gut feeling that Rooney will stay until he beats Sir Bobby Charlton's record and become Manchester United's all-time top goalscorer (20 off his record) to add to already being England's all-time top scorer, it's probably how he was convinced to stay a few years back under Moyes (along with the pay-rise of course).

The only thing is, he's not going to break it from central midfield anytime soon, and he's off penalty duties too.
