The Manchester United Thread

Yeh, that would be the logical thing to do, just pray he doesn't bring Fellaini back. For some reason Mourinho doesn't seem that keen on Schneiderlin.
I think it's because he tends to lose the ball under pressure and his passing is not to his standard. And he's no good taking the ball in tight areas under pressure.

If we are having a small discussion on fifa, just thought you may like to know I got Rashford in a pack on Ultimate Team :P

Seems like Man City and Pep have been found out. Just press their defence and they can't do anything.

Also Man Utd looked pretty good, just couldn't finish the chances. If we keep improving and playing better, and actually take chances, we should put up a good challenge for the title.

I played Fifa 17 and quite liked it this year, but PES is meant to be very good. Problem is... even when PES is better gameplay (arugable) it still isn't as enjoyable an experience because of the overall package such as licenses, game modes, playing online etc. So long story short think I'm going to go with Fifa again this year.

I play neither (not a gamer), but I understand there's a ton more licenses been purchased by Pro Evo this year that has opened up a lot more 'proper' teams to enhance the experience.

And looking at some of the screen shots of FIFA, how can they not add the new main stand at Anfield? So much for 'cutting edge.'

I fear dropping an attacking player to go 3 in midfield could be a step backwards? We're getting terrific performances, the most attacking I've seen us since the Fergie days, it was just one of those days in front of goal. Relax.

Although I do understand if you guys just mean go that way for Liverpool away.

And since some of you have mentioned Fifa, don't understand why you can't use Legacy defending online. It's why I have no interest in Ultimate team, etc. Just few beers & friends the way to go.

Bit simplistic. There's nottin' new in the way Pep has always played. Consistently stopping it is the problem. They just weren't at the level 'Spurs were yesterday but still played their part. I think it's more the WAY OTT hype down to the consecutive winning streak hasn't told the story of how the actual games have gone. City have been great in spells. Bang average in others. And pretty shaky defensively. A few of those games could well of gone the other way. But that's only gonna' be natural with a completely new manager changing the whole ethos right the way through the club. It's gonna' take time, and there's gonna' be dips. Same as Utd with Mourinho. But the one thing you can see for the first time at City is there's an actual plan and purpose to what they're doing. They aren't just spending money for the sake of spending big money and are getting players that fit what the coach wants to do. And he's totally committed to playing his way. Even if there's struggles to get the team to get to that point consistently.

Pochetino's had two years head start on Guardiola. Of all the major clubs going into the season, Tottenham were the most settled and ready to go for me. City will be fine under Pep. But it's going to take time to reach the levels he demands.

I think Mourinho's transfer's were a lot more strategised than you give credit for mate. He identified the areas we needed to address, and the profile of players we needed to pursue, getting his number one target in each area. We needed to strengthen at centre half, so we bought Bailly. Has their been a better centre half so far in the league? I'd say no.

We badly needed something extra in the centre of the park, someone who can dominate and effect the game, so we bought Pogba, who is finally having a massive impact (and should've scored a hat-trick yesterday).

Since we play 4-2-3-1, which no doubt was Mourinho's plan from day 1, he wanted a world class player who could play anywhere along the line in those attacking roles behind Ibrahimovic, so we signed the best player in the Bundesliga last season, Mkhitaryan, who brings goals & assists to the table, and I fancy to come excellent when he gets a string of games under his belt.

And finally, what we've lacked since Van Persie in Fergie's last season, a proven out & out world class goalscorer with who defenders fear to come up against, and the best of the whole thing is, he cost £0 haha.

I think everything was put in place well, and his signings were fantastic, but he's just starting to find his best team now with the players he inherited...ie; Fellaini take a seat pal, and Rooney just doesn't quite suit what we're about now.

I'd drop Lingard for Schneiderlin personally, or Carrick actually, with Pogba and Herrera bringing high energy to the midfield.

THIS!!! Ive been praying for this for ages and I don't believe in god. I fear that a two man central midfield will be overrun by the top teams.

I agree. But it's bad when we are exposed against sides like Watford and Stoke. Valencia getting caught up the field and Pogba nowhere to be seen. We need balance and Pogba to be more disciplined, which is wasting his talents. Mou needs to get it right and soon.

Kid rated 76 but plays like 99 Ronaldo...but faster. Not bad. :D
Yup, I love playing with him, so much fun and plays much better than his stats suggest he should. I had two, spent all my coins to buy him in the web app, then got him in my second pack haha

Yep me to with Carrick or even Blind sitting at the base and Herrera being high energy pressing BTB and with Pogba just unleashed. Then swap Mky for Rashford.

yes i think pogba needs the freedom to bomb forward, with him martial and rashford/mkhataryan around zlatan we would be very very dangerous.all about balance but we cant expect jose to crack it so early.i think people are bangon when they say the players need the lvg philosophy 'coached out of them'

buzzing captain to have beat Germany 8-1 and win Croatia Cup & to also get a goal and 2 assists !!

Gomes taring **** up for England. 3 goals and 4 assists in 3 games in Croatia Cup. Impressive despite just turning 16. Has been on fire this season. And keeps going up levels each tournament/game he plays!

Gomes stats this season for club and country 10 starts 1 sub appearance 9 goals 10 assists
