buzzing captain to have beat Germany 8-1 and win Croatia Cup & to also get a goal and 2 assists !!

Gomes taring **** up for England. 3 goals and 4 assists in 3 games in Croatia Cup. Impressive despite just turning 16. Has been on fire this season. And keeps going up levels each tournament/game he plays!

Gomes stats this season for club and country 10 starts 1 sub appearance 9 goals 10 assists

hopefully he has that determination not to falter like alot of promising talents good signs tho that he has the right mentality

Yeah from what I've seen and heard from people who watch and speak with to people close to him, his mentality and determination are second to none.

Bit simplistic. There's nottin' new in the way Pep has always played. Consistently stopping it is the problem. They just weren't at the level 'Spurs were yesterday but still played their part. I think it's more the WAY OTT hype down to the consecutive winning streak hasn't told the story of how the actual games have gone. City have been great in spells. Bang average in others. And pretty shaky defensively. A few of those games could well of gone the other way. But that's only gonna' be natural with a completely new manager changing the whole ethos right the way through the club. It's gonna' take time, and there's gonna' be dips. Same as Utd with Mourinho. But the one thing you can see for the first time at City is there's an actual plan and purpose to what they're doing. They aren't just spending money for the sake of spending big money and are getting players that fit what the coach wants to do. And he's totally committed to playing his way. Even if there's struggles to get the team to get to that point consistently.

Pochetino's had two years head start on Guardiola. Of all the major clubs going into the season, Tottenham were the most settled and ready to go for me. City will be fine under Pep. But it's going to take time to reach the levels he demands.
Mourinho's transfers was strategized tho. He looked to strengthen the spine of the team since it looked quite disjointed: 1 CB, 1 CM, 1 creative mid and a CF. Now the creative mid has been out injured for while and martial hasn't hit the form of last season

I remain confident that once martial finds for and mhkitaryan replicates anything close to his form at dorrmund last season, we will be quite a force to be reckoned with in the league.

I think Mourinho's transfer's were a lot more strategised than you give credit for mate. He identified the areas we needed to address, and the profile of players we needed to pursue, getting his number one target in each area. We needed to strengthen at centre half, so we bought Bailly. Has their been a better centre half so far in the league? I'd say no.

We badly needed something extra in the centre of the park, someone who can dominate and effect the game, so we bought Pogba, who is finally having a massive impact (and should've scored a hat-trick yesterday).

Since we play 4-2-3-1, which no doubt was Mourinho's plan from day 1, he wanted a world class player who could play anywhere along the line in those attacking roles behind Ibrahimovic, so we signed the best player in the Bundesliga last season, Mkhitaryan, who brings goals & assists to the table, and I fancy to come excellent when he gets a string of games under his belt.

And finally, what we've lacked since Van Persie in Fergie's last season, a proven out & out world class goalscorer with who defenders fear to come up against, and the best of the whole thing is, he cost £0 haha.

I think everything was put in place well, and his signings were fantastic, but he's just starting to find his best team now with the players he inherited...ie; Fellaini take a seat pal, and Rooney just doesn't quite suit what we're about now.

Yeah big shame Mky got injured then rushed back for the Derby when he clearly was not recovered/fit. When them 2 are back and the CM is sorted we will be a force. After a short time of Mou being in charge you can see massive improvements in our attacking play from the last 2 seasons. Yeah we look not as good defensively, but I'm sure with a settled side and our best players back we will be better. Still need to find that right CM formula though! Can't see many players from this lot staying under Mou for very long. Unfortunately think we will see a window or 2 of rebuilding, but I'm confident this time we have the right man for the job. Our squad will be more how Mou wants by the end of next summer. Should still have more than enough for a challenge this season on all fronts. No excuses!

So happy for Ander getting his first Spain call up...this was looooong overdue.

I'm torn, happy with him getting the call up as it's deserved, but the other part of me is a little reluctant as it's yet another key player at further risk in regards to possibly picking up an injury.

I'm delighted Zlatan is retired from all international duty tbh.

This gave me a laugh what I found on Redcafe this morning!

Anyone else noticed how often this guy gets away with what he does on the pitch? I'm obviously talking about that tackle on Allen the other day, however, this is not an isolated situation. I've noticed how he tends to play ugly during the game and no one mentions a thing.

There were several times where he used his elbows. Fellaini gets a lot of **** thrown at him for using his elbows, and most of the times it's just players running into him!!

Herrera ****** players off with his bullshit (just what the **** did he have to say to Allen after that tackle that made him think things were ALRIGHT?!?!?!?). Think back on that tackle Gerrard did when coming on as a sub and was sent off after 60 seconds or something against us. It was teaser Herrera laying on the ground there crying. Probably no coincidence either.

Don't have a clue on Herraras temperament but he could easily of walked for that. Some of Pogbas 'tattles' left a lot to be desired too.

One thing that has stood out this year watching Utd is Bailly has a nasty streak in him that goes beyond pure over enthusiasm. That needs reigning in before he gets a reputation and refs look for him.

Gerrard was a complete **** that game and well deserved to walk. Hyped himself up too much being his last Utd game and let everyone down.

Pretty much always been my view. I'd rather no L'pool players get called up for their Country.

Whatever the Nation.

Club first and it's not even close.

I remember watching an interview between Herrera & Mata on MUTV, I think Mata was saying anytime they played against one another in Spain all Herrera did was whisper **** in his ear throughout the entire game, and even got sent off once for a challenge on him.

Personally, I both agree & disagree with you on that one to a certain extent. Country should always come first. It links with national pride. As a payer, you should always want to be in the national team. It should be a point of pride for them, being the best in the country for that position. I think the reason why England does so poorly on the international stage is because players see it more as a hindrance that an honour to play for their country nowadays.

I am confident to say we would never have won in '66 if players like Moore and Charlton have the same mindset as players like sterling and the rest do nowadays. It has resulted in England becoming a bore to watch, even maybe a chore. We play without passion, without pride. The Iceland game is the evidence to that.

Unfortunately, because of this, we will never win anything of significance for years. And this just furthers the mindset of club first, and heck, I kinda agree with that now.

If you look at the England rugby team, that is how we should play with the passion and pride. The national teams come first in Rugby. Event club games are played when the national teams play instead of a pointless break. They would rather play for the country than the club.

Rant over haha :P

Herrera don't have a bad bone in his body. He's always been a high energy tackling CM. But comparing him to Fellaini is laughable imo. Having watched last seasons review DVD I can honestly say there were twice where he made really clumsy challenges but not reckless and once were he pulled back Barkley to stop a counter. Bailly I love amazing signing! For me he's on the edge, but never goes over it only remember 1 bad tackle when he kicked a Bournmouth player in the air but even then he won the ball cleanly and was never reckless.

I must be watching a different Bailly. He's been lucky to stay on the pitch in a few games this year.

Needs tempering or that will cost you at some point.

Bailly does have a hot streak but it's part of his style and make up as a defender... I wouldn't change it for the world! Think back to all our top Centre Back's aggressors such as Vidic and Stam they all had that as well.

I've been hugely impressed with Bailly and think he is a fantastic defender in the making, he is not the finished article yet but he is certainly someone who adds a huge amount to our backline.

Could not have said it better. Sure he has a hot streak and is tough in the tackle. But I can't think of anything he's deserved to walk for this season!

Another Vidic? Yes please. He'll be walking early then every game against L'pool!
