I'm not sure on Evra Baines thing, I want Evra in team as he adds a lot to attack, yes his crossing is poor but his link up play with left winger is superb, his dribbling, link up play, overlapping runs are superb.
Evra's positioning was always like this, any LB who plays as high up the pitch like he does will caught out when opponents counter attack, it's surprising SAF haven't addressed this or maybe he wants Evra to play higher up than withdrawn role.
When Ronaldo left there was one interview with Evra where he said SAF expects him to contribute more in attacking play and from that season he is caught out more. Also previously we had Vidic as LCB who covered every mistake of Evra but now we have Rio who is not on the same level of Vidic at his best.
Baines would be good addition to the team, but I dont buy this "much better than Evra" argument. His crossing, delivery from set piece is very good, but defensively there isn't much. I wish we change our plan and stick with Fabio and rotate him with Evra rather than playing Evra every game as if there is some clause in his contract.
I just want Evra of old who used to burst a gut to get back to his position than the new "I dont give **** about defending" Evra. Everything will be sorted if he sprints to cover the gap left by him rather than jog.

You are not going to get the old Evra as he is 31. And Fabio isn't ready. Baines is defensively better and also excellent attacking wise, with the added threat of his lethal set piece ability.

Still think we will only get baines if moyes leaves which i dout coz moyes said in interview that he is happy at club and does not want to leave yet. I think it will be evra and fryers with fabio out on loan at qpr.
Difference between old and current Evra is not arsed about sprinting back to defend, that is not a major flaw to fix. It's not he has lost few yards of pace.
Fabio did well enough when he was played as LB and also as RB. He even played champions league finals and one of our better performers. He is ready, just need luck with injuries.
Defensively better part will be tested when whole team are not set up defensively. He had great season, there is no denying it, will be threat with his crossing and set pieces. But I'm not sure SAF will buy him or rotate Evra.

He defo wont rotate evra! I dont even think will sign left back,maybe just get that class CM we need then that will be it onless nani leaves
He has lost a yard of pace, he is also massively fatigued.
Baines has better individual positioning. Fabio is a good young player but is still very raw, but he is not on the same level as Rafael for a start. And it is very dangerous to rely on a raw talented but somewhat injury prone youngster as the back up to a 31 year old Evra who still hasnt had any real rest in 3 years (and wont again as he is at the Euros).
Evra has not lost any pace, he is as quick as he was when he joined MaUtd, you answered that point as well, he rarely gets any rest in the season or after the season. No wonder he looked exhausted so many times this season.
Re Fabio, Rafael is so good as he played many games. We have to risk Fabio to make him a better player. Yes we will loan him, but if loan move turns out anything like Macheda's, Rossi's then it will be waste of precious 1 year.

Yeah, rotating Evra will fix all the problems. He will have competition for LB spot and also will get rest.

Agree with Sunil 100%. Evra needs rotation, and Fabio needs game time. SAF is a genius when it comes to squad rotation and keeping everyone happy, but I am very surprised that he has been over-reliant on Evra for a number of seasons now. (and surprised and disappointed that Berba didn't get more minutes last season - I guess SAF sees him train week in week out so I'll trust his judgement there). Hopefully Fabio will stay at the club and remain injury free, I'm sure a run of games like Rafael has managed would do him the world of good, he was and will be the more complete player of the two if injuries clear. We don't need to waste money on a fullback unless there are outbound loans imo

Oh, and Evra needs a kick up the backside every once in a while, his desire to get back was really lacking last season. He's a defender first, and an attacker second.
This is one more thing that surprised me a lot, that SAF didn't address this or drop him for not putting effort to get back.
Tbf to Evra he did this in the last 2 games of the season, against Swansea and Sunderland it was like watching Evra of old, but just it was too late to judge whether he addressed that issue.

Totally agree what you sayin why waste money on FB's when we have quality at the club rafael,evra,fabio dont forget fryers and vermijl both were quality for reserves last season and if need smalling,jones,evans,valencia,giggs can all play that role i think our defence is quality!

Oh year forgot about fornasier to also had great season for reserves.
You arguement of our defense being so quality if so flawed that you named half our defense who are not natural FB's.You want a 39 old to be lb ? :S
We need a lb the sooner we accept it better it is, if you watched evra in friendly for france you would know exactly he is no longer that old evra.

Never said wanted him to be full back was just saying players who can and have played in them positions over past couple of seasons! A full back is not urgent imo a centre mid is and should not waste money on one when could be spent where needed we have more than enough cover in defencive areas.
There in lies the problem, there wasnt anyone to drop him for. Fabio isnt there yet. And if Baines is going sub 15 its a deal for me.
And sunilvk7, the loan could also be as good as Welbeck and Cleverleys, made all the difference to him. Fabio needs game time in an enviroment where mistakes are less harshly punished.
He isnt as quick as when he joined, think you forget just how fast he was. Still quick enough, just like Cole
Would be great if the loan deal works out like Cleverley's or Welbeck's. My point is, he is more than good enough to play back up role to Evra, if he gets many opportunities on loan then it makes sense but we wont have any control over the number of games he plays. So it might turn out to be very good or disastrous. Why waste 15 odd million on LB when we have good enough back up? Doesn't it make sense to lump that sum to buy quality midfielder as we don't have endless cash?

Just wondering would baines even want to start as sub or evra for that mind, fergie is obviously going to start with evra next season plus if vidic not fit evra bound to still be captain and think baines would cost more than 15m but is gonna be interesting, i would rather money go towards CM.
