The Manchester United Thread

0-1 down atm. Ex player Kenji Goore with there goal. Poor defending from Willock and Olesunde letting him get the shot off and just as bad GK from Joel for not being alert for the shot. Shaw and Young gone off after 60mins both did well and both unscathed. Swansea dominating since the goal.

Left United, and he's still helping us - Go on Wazza you adopted Manc.

Haha, priceless!

  • United had been staying overnight at the Lowry ahead of home games for over a decade since Fergie was in charge, with Moyes and LVG continuing the tradition.
  • Mourinho believes players will benefit more from staying at home but the squad have been told the new arrangement will be monitored.
  • Most players have welcomed it, though some have reservations.
  • Carlos Lalin - fitness coach who worked with Mourinho at Real Madrid and Chelsea - now has more responsibility.
  • Medical personnel was reshuffled last month with first-team physio Neil Hough now heading the academy's physiotherapy department. Hough's deputy Richard Merron has now replaced him as first-team physio, with academy physio Jon Picot joining Hough in the first-team setup.
  • Lalin believed to be exerting greater influence, with Mourinho keen for the players' recovery process to be sped up.

I was reading that this morning.
Luke Shaw will have his Just Eat app at the ready ;)

Still think we could do with another in before the window shuts, for me we are only one or two key injuries away from being a completly different team.

Really would like to see a winger (we were really narrow against Swansea), needed to utilise the space out-wide much more effectively. Will cost us against the better teams if we don't get that sorted. Although I realise that a lot of that is also fullback responsibility, Blind doesn't operate like that.. Shaw would.. but what happens this season with him is anyones guess.

After that for me would be a fullback as second priority after a winger, then as a 3rd priority another midfielder.

That's my number one concern.
A few defensive injuries and Carrick will be back in there again.

still think fabinho would have been a very handy signing due to his versatility but doesnt look likely

GK- DDG,Romero,Joel

FBs- Valencia, Darmian, Shaw, Blind, Mitchell

CBs- Bailly, Rojo, Jones, Smalling, Lindelöf, Tuanzebe

CMs- Pogba, Matic, Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick, Periera, McTominey

Atts- Mata, Mky, Lingard, Martial, Young

STRs- Lukaku, Rashford, Zlatan

Thats more than enough depth there! Can't see anyone else in the league boast such depth bar City in the attack area. It's already a bigger squad than Jose likes to work with. Won't complain if anyone comes in. But am delighted with what we have going into this season.

Realistically it looks more like that... I've took Zlatan out as he won't be back until we are well into the season so doesn't count for now and McTominey shouldn't be near the first team. If you're counting him it's a sign that there is a real lack of quality there! No offence to him but he's nowhere near good enough yet.

Still think the attackers look awfully shallow, winger was a priority for me this summer! Can see why Mourinho wanted Perisic, he'll make do without but clearly wanted a winger/wing-back, however he planned to use him. That's our biggest weakness in the squad for me atm.

Put McTominey in as he's going to be training with the first team all season with Tuanzebe and Mitchell. More than good enough for the bench and cup games. And put Zlatan in as seen in an interview yesterday unvieling his new game. That could be back Oct. Hes defo gonna sign his new deal. Yeah a winger would be nice but not priority for me. Rashford can play there as can Periera who was fantastic left at Granada. Mitchell is a natural winger by trade and scored some beauty for the u23s last season.

Problem is with Rashford, Martial and co... as much as I like them all... they all don't really possess the whole 'keep wide, get to the byline and cross the ball' trait.

I mean, with Swansea we destroyed them second-half on counter-attack in last 10 mins when they came onto us. But up until that point we really did lack width, a lot of players inside and big space on the flank to exploit. We'll need to use it better going forward (if the fullbacks won't), as we'll encounter plenty of teams who will setup similar to Swansea against us!

Yeah kinder agree. Would of been a 100% better if Shaw was playing instead of Blind. Would of give us so much more width in the left and give Rashford more space at the same time. Need to get that balance sorted on the left like we have on the right.

Burton at home in the cup. Happy with that! Give the players a rest and hopefully see Romero, Periera, Tuanzebe, Mitchell get some mind.

Romero
Tuanzebe-Lindelöf-Smalling-Darmian
Carrick
Herrera-Fellaini
Lingard-Martial-Periera

for the Burton game.
