The Manchester United Thread

Well, from this initial look Robbo lad he's exactly the profile of player we've been targeting since Klopp arrived. An all-round footballer that can play any position that midfield. He's started out tonight as one of the deep sitting two but he's been all over the park dominating both ends. Strong. Athletic. Rangy. Strong the tackle. Great range of passing with a non-stop motor. To equate Utd wise, he's like Pogba. The perfect, athletic modern day midfielder with the added bonus of being just as effective deep as when he's galloping forward. 1 game but well impressed.

I need to see more games like over the year to really judge but on this initial viewing I totally get the hype and why the analytical guys say he's hard to compare to anyone else as he's so good defensively and offensively.

On this showing, £55 million looks an absolute steal. Just frustrating we have to wait a year **** it!

Theres another £15m on the price. What a goal

Finished 0-2. Carbon copy of Spurs game last week. Wrong selection and players playing out of possition. Started poorly with players looking lost and not sure of how to play. Better in second half as our fitness seems greater than other teams. And the subs bringing better balance. Could of got a draw. Shaw was pretty good at CB. Buffonge class when he came on should be starting! Apparently tested a few players who are playing in the u19 CL.

Think might see this today

DDG
Valencia-Bailly-Jones-Darmian
Matic
Pogba-Fellaini
Mky-Luk-Martial

Today. After what Mourinho was saying about there physicality and counter football. Think Martial will get the nod as he didn't play mid week.

Lol nearly forgot Jones and Bailly are both out for the CL game on Tuesday to Basel. Will be a Smalling-Lindelöf combo.

Now this is where the real test for our credentials, a great start like last season, but we can't take our foot off the pedal now. Got to keep on winning and getting them points racked up.

LVG not happy at his treatment by utd, just read what he said on bbc

Figured you, in particular, would appreciate this hard but enjoyable watch on a bona fide football, let alone Utd, legend. People think Bailly's special. This guy was something else among all his flaws.

Premier League World Special - Paul McGrath

Never knew Ferguson and Utd had tried to pay him off to retire early back in '89 when they wanted to be rid of his drinking problem. What a horrible practice. Thankfully he turned that down as the last 10 years he just got better and better without training and just tipping up of a Sat'day and dominating. Freak of Nature.

Thanks Scouse, I'll have a look at that as soon as I get a chance.
I had an electrical concession in a department store in Dublin in the early 00's which had an alley out the back separating the main building from the stock rooms. Bumped into Paul out the back once, sitting with some wino's, horsing down a bottle of red and a naggin of vodka.
Chap barely knew he was there.
Very sad day for me.

yeah mcgrath was a rock,i really miss the old school type defenders.used to love watching italian football in the early 90s onwards with baresi,maldini,nesta,cannavaro,costacurta,ferrara....could go on forever

I've scouse mates messaging me already, desperate for United to slip up tonight, just so they can have something to smile about this weekend.

Hate playing Stoke, but let's hope we can put a decent shift in and come away with the win.

Finished 0-2 to Utd gls from Gomes and Burkart. Complete dominance of a display. Baars, Barlow, Burkart ripping them to shreds at will. Gomes running the show. And Oconner just mopping up anything.

Not so much today as it's a short drive and we're in the car, but some of the best trips home the train come out of getting walloped. Like it's pointless being narked so you forget the football, have a good scoop the ale, a good laugh and make the most of the end of your day out.
