The Manchester United Thread

We've been very poor in this second half tbh, like watching two different teams almost.

Very disappointing, always feels like one step forward two steps back. That Huddersfield defeat was the real killer.

Can't complain. We gave it our absolute all to win the game from the first second until the last. We had our chances, we didn't take them. That's football.

Onto the next.

We deserved to lose, apart from the late pump the ball into box onslaught, we didn't do anywhere near enough before that in the second half.

It's difficult, because we needed to bring on a CM to grasp some control again, but we had none. Fellaini in hindsight was extremely rusty. A danger when he was deployed higher, yes, but in the CM area, he was extremely rusty. So what do you do? Usually we'd have Pogba or Carrick playing/to bring on, or at least Fellaini with a few games under his belt. But we had nowt.

Definitely wouldn't say we deserved to lose, a draw would've been a fair result. You'll see that in a few hours when you blow some steam :P

That's where you'll continue to fall down. He's got it boxed off defensively but when you need to attack in a big game he's nowhere near expansive enough. His answer is Fellaini and the long ball. 4 points from L'pool, Tottenham and Chelsea and at that against a toothless 'Spurs with no Kane. Soon as the schedule starts to get tougher, results start to slide with it. You're better than last year but a LONG way behind City. In terms of attitude as much as lacking talent. And that wasn't a particularly defensive Utd display. Just nowhere near expansive enough attack wise when it needed to be. He still thinks you can get by not getting beat when the points totals are going up season-on-season.

*Edit* There you go. Unless that mentality changes he's not got a prayer of ever keeping up with the likes of Peo.

4 points from Anfield, Stamford Bridge & Spurs at home? That's a solid return in any season under any manager. It's Stoke & Huddersfield where we ****** up. Turn those into wins, we're 3 points behind City and have to play them at Old Trafford before the New Year

City go to Stamford Bridge and Anfield and play to win. As they already have in giving Chelsea a serious lesson a few weeks back. That's the difference.

Draws no longer cut it at the very top.

Did Jose seriously just say the only time Chelsea were on top is when they scored? Haha he narf chats some bollocks don't he.

Every point counts. If City hit 95+ points then fair enough, nothing could've been done with this type of professional/percentages approach, but until they do - beating teams at home, beating the teams you should be beating home or away, and not losing away to the big teams, should have you near winning the title.

Losing to Huddersfield and dropping a lead away to Stoke was unforgivable.

Thought you thoroughly deserved that on the second half dominance personally.

Think it shocked everyone how open Utd were today! Wasn't expecting that at all and it certainly made things a lot easier for the likes of Cesc and Hazard to perform.

Mourinho's reactive tactics have become dated. 1 point away, 3 point at home, yeah maybe back in a day it was a good recipe to win the league. But not with City going for 3 every game.

Although in all fairness, that header was unstoppable. But that's football for you.

I don't think they are outdated, but they require gamebreakers or specialists. Pogba, Ozil (you can see why he wants Griezmann)

That said, too many players weren't at it.

Come on mate. Van Gaal would have Carrick/Fellaini midfield, Blind at centerback, Rashford up top, half a squad injured, bunch of people played completely out of position, and he would still set up to win these games. And it usually worked, too. So it's not about lack of players, it's about tactics and mental approach. Jose has been shutting up shop in these games since the day he arrived, Pogba or no Pogba.

You lot are slowly becoming Liverpool 2.0 with all these worn out slogans, spend big next summer and next year is surely our year. Jose is still a force to be reckoned with as far as grinding the league and pushing through knock-out competitions, but his big game approach just isn't working and it hasn't for a while now.

And guess whose fault is that in not buying those players? Gamechangers like mahrez, sanchez, bale, JAMES RODRIGUEZ were all available this summer. James is in all caps b/c he was easily available.

How can anyone defend this shambolic record? Oh my, even Wenger has a better record away. Even poch who's known to not do well away. Now, looking at this, can anyone seriously want Jose over poch? You're crazy, absolutely crazy if you say yes. Get poch in the summer.
