So all that money spent. All that attacking talent. And Utd are nottin' more than a one man team going forward?

Thats real damning on everyone involved.

Mate you're talking one of the best central midfielders in the world. He's simply our best player. You're long enough in the tooth to know midfield is by far the most important area of the pitch. Without him controlling the game, maximizing our fluidity, providing goals & assists from midfield, making us tick, then yes... we are half the team without him.

If we had a CM that was creative minded, say someone in the mould of Cazorla, something like that, then we'd be sound without him. But we have no profile that comes near it.

No denying he's a big loss. But your problems are as much systematic given the attacking options Utd possess if the reliance is all on one man to create. That's a terribly built side. Or a real poorly utilised one with the slew of attacking talent at your disposal.

Tbf you can have the best attack in the world if you don't have someone capable of providing them then it's no use.

Pogba is a big loss but not an excuse to lose. One man doesn't make a team but he is the closest one probably.

A lot of those attacking talent are in the final third. Without that crucial transitional phase from defence to attack, they can't do much. We often resort to a lot of long balls over the top to rashford these days since we don't have a dynamic mid that can just make those driving runs from midfield to give the ball to the attacking players to feet or rather make that creative pass. I honestly can't remember that last incisive through ball we made. This is where pogba comes in.

Except Pogba doesn't exactly have a stellar track record for showing up in those kinds of big games.

I'll give you that he is excellent at bullying average opposition and they always struggle with containing him, but if a midfield actually puts up a fight, he tends to go invisible.

Essentially it's Uniteds secondary issue. Herrera is playing very poorly and therefore there is no distribution. For me I would shift us to 4-3-3 with Mata as an attacking CM

Unite should sack Jose and get progressive manager like Klopp.

Sounds like Pogba, Carrick, Rojo, Zlatan could all be back after the 2 week break :) Mourinho saying the Int break has come at the perfect time. And all the players mentioned are in a good place and need to work hard the next weeks to be back.

Can't complain. We gave it our absolute all to win the game from the first second until the last. We had our chances, we didn't take them. That's football.

Onto the next.

..... Definitely wouldn't say we deserved to lose, a draw would've been a fair result. You'll see that in a few hours when you blow some steam :P

I often listen to the UWS podcast after games. Aside from being a big advocate of the sadly now dying fanzine culture, I've a lot of time for the views of regular match goers. Being one myself. And with Mancunians and Scousers having far more in common than most like to admit, a lot of the stories that come out game-to-game that are often hilarious, if equally often 'not safe for work', I can really relate to. It makes an entertaining listen travelling to and from work.

I'm quoting you and putting up a link to yesterday's to just bring home again something I've often mentioned on here, The complete different views from being at a game to watching on the TV. Not that ones more right than the other, but it's always interesting, to me at least, to compare the two.

The after-match reaction to yesterdays shambles (bar the ******** ranting about Mourinho being in court), starts around 26:35. But again, which is probably more pertinent for Utd fans, the whole show's entertaining.

Certainly a pod I'd recommend after Utd games.

NSFW.

I don't see still how anyone thought we deserved to even get something from that game. Chelsea were a whole lot better than us in the second half and there was a bit of 'huff n puff with Fellaini' long ball hoofing at the end. Don't let that distract you, for me it was a deserved loss and we were once again, victims of our own downfall. Mourinho equally to blame for me, why we seemingly started off well in first half and then resorted to the stereotypical backs against the wall in second half.

In the second half we practically did next to nothing right up until that last bit of Fellaini hoofing. First half was a bit more even.

2 shots on target. 16mins, and 90mins.

We deserved something from the first half. And then completely bottled the second and rightly lost. Wouldn't have minded if we had been outplayed from start to finish. But they didn't outdo us, we retreated, which was very disappointing

Would say that u did also against Spurs, no idea why. I was suprised u could not dominate more in the midfield, young Winks and Eriksen should not that easily go against Herrera and Matic.

Edit:
Could someone tell me if this verification for every post goes off?
Mike cant u pump my status back up? As I can understand no info why my account got lost.
