The Manchester United Thread

From Mou presser after the game-

"The objective is that now we have more number nines," said Mourinho.
"We have Alexis, Lukaku, Martial, Rashford. Rashford can play on the left and the right, Alexis is exactly the same. All of them apart from Lukaku can play from behind as the second striker that’s why I say that it’s bad for you because you like to have things to write and speculate, especially in the summer."

"But I don’t want attacking players so don’t speak about attacking players that are coming here because nobody is coming here. We have Mata, Lukaku, Rashford, Martial, Alexis, I don’t want attacking players, speculation in the summer you have to go to other areas, attacking players I am really happy.

"We have to improve not in the quality of the players. We have to improve in the dynamic in the team, and in the efficiency because even today it is a game to score more than two."

MUNICH 60 YEARS: OLD TRAFFORD EVENT DETAILS

Manchester United will host a special service at Old Trafford this Tuesday, 6 February, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster.

The ceremony is open to all supporters wishing to attend, as club staff and special guests, including the families of those who were on board the ill-fated flight, pay their respects to the 23 passengers who lost their lives in 1958.

The short service will commence at 2.40pm, with turnstiles at the Lower East Stand open from 1.30pm.

A minute’s silence will be held at 3.04pm, marking the time of the fatal crash in 1958, whilst the ceremony will also include readings from club directors Sir Alex Ferguson, Michael Edelson and Ed Woodward. A rendition of Flowers of Manchester will follow the silence, and there will also be a performance from the Manchester United Foundation Youth Choir as well as music from Elliot Brass.

Supporters are kindly reminded that the usual security checks will be in operation, including the complimentary bag-drop facility outside the East Stand, with large bags not permitted inside the ground.

Once the ceremony starts at 2.40pm, the turnstiles will be closed. However, anybody who arrives after that time will be able to watch a live television feed on a screen outside the stadium, on the forecourt close to the Munich clock.

A limited number of parking spaces will be available in the E2 and N3 car parks, on a first come, first serve basis with access from Sir Matt Busby Way via Wharfside Way only.

CLUB MEDIA COVERAGE

MUTV will broadcast a special live show from 2pm-4pm, covering the service at Old Trafford and featuring footage from the memorial events taking place in Belgrade and Munich. The full day of programmes dedicated to the air disaster will be free to view in the UK and Ireland on Sky channel 418.

The two-hour show will later be made available on demand on MUTV.com, again for free, enabling as many fans as possible around the world to see what happened during the service.

R.I.P :(

Begging my boss like crazy for an early finish to get down there!

Different circumstance being as I experienced and still suffer from Sheffield along with thousands of others, but I never work April 15.

My only stipulation in any job I do and nobody hasn't been accommodating in that. Hardest day of any year and work is the very last thing on your mind.

Tbh my boss has been good 11:30 finish. Should take between 2hrs 45ms and 3 hrs to get there from Lincolnshire. Might miss the start.

Just back from the remembrance ceremony at OT. What an emotionally draining day! Honestly bubbled most of the way through it. Fantastic turn out inside and out the stadium! The snow falling just added to an already somber and eery atmosphere. Then it almost stoping not long after it finished was chilling.

RIP The Busby Babes. Never forgotten and always alive the Flowers of Manchester! :(

[h=1]UEFA Youth League - FK Brodarac vs Manchester United[/h]
Kick off At 5:30 pm GMT
Live on BTSport 3
Extended highlights on MUTV at 11 pm GMT today.

Ro-Shaun Williams is captaining the side, with Angel Gomes and Indy Boonen also in the squad, but there is no Tahith Chong, as the in-form winger is still being treated carefully after his knee operation. Luca Ercolani and Aidan Barlow are unavailable and keeper Ilias Moutha-Sebtaoui is still absent.

Is that not just a kid on Twitter?
Looking at some of the other recent tweets from this individual he has got a problem with anything not Arsenal related. Interesting also to note that tweet has disappeared from his feed been put in his place by social media.

U19s Vs Brodarac
Fojticek, Tanner, O'Connor, Warren, R.Williams, Garner, Hamilton, Gomes, Boonen, Burkart, Bohui
Subs: Thompson, Kenyon, Dunne, B. Williams, Laird, Levitt, Bughail-Mellor

Seeing the pitch the u19s are having to play on explains why Chong hasn't been risked

Bohui and Boonen have already both taken elbows to the head inside the first 4 minutes. Deliberate to. Every United player who takes a touch has been smashed from behind so far. Ref really needs to get a grip of this game. Standard of refereeing in United's games the Youth League has been genuinely pathetic. Refs seem to presume the English team are going to be dirty so allow the opposition to foul & dive as much as they want while penalising any physicality from United.

1-0 United as Garner & Bohui linked up well before Boonen cuts inside & shoots from 20 yards & his shot is spilled over the line by the keeper

2-0 United as Warren takes down Gomes free kick inside the box, turns and crosses and the ball is deflected in off the head of a defender

Almost 3-0 as Gomes shows brilliant quick feet to beat 2 defenders in the box but his shot is pushed wide by the keeper

2-0 to United at half time. Williams, Boonen & Garner very good in the first half.
