The Manchester United Thread

Bughail-Mellor replaces Burkart at half time to make his u19s debut

Bohui caught with a boot in the face, the Brodarac player somehow contesting the yellow card when it should easily have been red

Gomes is absolutely cleaned out with a diving lunge & again the ref shows nothing when it should easily have been red

Another Brodarac player booked after hitting Williams off the ball and then the ref books Williams for complaining about the rough treatment. Terrible refereeing yet again

Gomes again cleaned out as he has been any time he's tried to run with the ball. United will do well to get out of this game without any serious injuries.

Dylan Levitt replaces Josh Bohui in the 77th minute. U19s debut for Levitt

U19s: FT - Brodarac 0 #MUFC 2. A professional job by United in difficult circumstances against combative opponents. The first-half goals proved enough to clinch a place in the @UEFAYouthLeague round of 16.

Ref was an absolute joke!!!! I’m surprised we didn’t get any injuries and even more surprised they didn’t have at least 3 reds!

Few reporting this great news if true!

"The player still has 18 months left on his £80,000-a-week contract, after United took up a one-year option last year to automatically extend his deal into 2019.
But Shaw has since impressed Mourinho in recent weeks and has a chance for a rare run in the side from now until the summer, with the Old Trafford giants planning to tie him down on improved terms and longer contract."

They had him at RB, interestingly. They have James Chester + Terry, tricky to be a guaranteed CB. In which case, the choice of loan destination could've been better.

Yeah agree. Was never gonna displace either of those. Even though he’s better than Chester. But they are a very good partnership. Don’t mind him playing RB this season as long as he’s playing and gaining experience before returning to us next season. Mourinho has some thinking to do on the CB situation. Unless he sends him out on loan again, and keeps the rest.

Tbh with the likes of Warren, Williams coming through now also at nearly the same age and ability as Tuanzebe will be an interesting canundrem for the club!

Also be interested to see what happens with Riley and Mitchell, Poole are all good enough to be squad players imo.

The likes of Ercolani, Olesunde will be kept around to make up the numbers and provide experience for the likes of Oconner, Barrett, Dunne and Dishon Bernard coming through from the 18s.

Theres a lot in our u23s now where it’s tome to move on either in the club or to another. Wilson, Riley, Mitchell, Willock, Poole, Hamilton, Johnstone, Henderson, O hara. Charlie Scott has already agreed a move away. Redmond is another one.

They have already promoted the likes of Boofonge, Boonen, Sebatoui, Gomes, Chong. Will be more before end of the season. Burkart is another one.

Ed's been on the blower to everyone today swinging around how big a *** we've got. Anyway, some of the highlights:

Key points of Woodward's call:
1. Revenue up 4%
2. £29m loss
3. Wages increased by 9.4%
4. Sanchez's shirt sales already three times previous January record
5. New TV deal announcement maybe due within two weeks
6. Club expecting to make Champions League quarter-finals #mufc

Ed Woodward: “United are the most engaged football club on Twitter. Jesse Lingard’s takeover on Instagram generated over 40m impressions."#MUFC

Well that was nice whilst it lasted for you. ;)

For someone that’s an ‘Altrincham’ lad you sure do take every opportunity to nark at City and give props to Utd.

Just saying/ observing like.
I can't big up Alty at the moment even if they are top of their League, and city are just easy fodder to be fair.

Jose on Luke Shaw: "I know Shaw since Southampton. Know his potential and quality. Can he be the way I want my players to be during games and training week? He made the big effort. He is free of minor injuries. The natural consequence is he will have his contract."

Jose Mourinho tells #MUTV that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back in first-team training but is not yet ready for a return to action, while Eric Bailly also remains unavailable. There are no fresh injury concerns. #MUFC

Long JM answer about what a 'box to box' is, then: "Paul Pogba is a midfielder. Not left back/striker. Depends on tactical system but always midfield player. With so many opinions, people get confused. Between me + Paul no confusion. Difficult to find one with more potential."

Fair play to Shaw. A lot writing him off and said he would be gone and a perma crock. He’s worked hard at what Jose wanted and impressed and improved. Delighted he’s gonna get a new long term contract!

U19s: #MUFC will play Liverpool in the @UEFAYouthLeague round of 16. The Reds head to Merseyside for the one-off tie, which will be played on 20/21 February. #UYL

We have to be the most fouled team at this level. Kicked to **** by Newcastle so far. Especially Aliou Traore. 2 horror tackles from behind sees him off injured. Was dominating CM till then. Barlow on. Unlucky Ramanzani smashes the post from the edge of the box. Players look fired up after some dirty stuff from Newcastle.

Getting sick tbh of our best players getting targeted every week at this age and going off injured! Ramanzani forces a great save from the start of the second half.

Chong and Puigmal linking up well early in the second half. A mist header from Oconner gives the Newcastle 9 an easy finish 1-0. Mellor is the new Bebe!

Newcastle hit the bar. Then Chong finishes a great counter 1-1.

Chong tairing down on goal and keeper. CB hacks him down from behind only a yellow :O

ffs Chong misses a peno and the rebound. Oh dear 2-1 Newcastle in extra time. Ref lets a clear foul go on Galbraith that leads to them scoring. Galbraith shown red for something he said. Another good desplay!
