No depth bar Herrera. Poor old Matic was on his last legs come the end of the season. We didn’t have a option when Pogba was injured/out of form. Those 2 have improved us no doubt. But look at your options even Spurs and it’s night and day.

Eh, definitely a start, yes. Part of the problem last time was we resorted to long balls too frighteningly often. And Herrera wasn't trusted in a midfield 3 most times (the formation that actually works best). With a 3 of Pogba-Matic-Fred, that is both defence, balance and creativity in the midfield. Maybe we can finally get the ball to our forwards in the right areas, instead of just long-balling it every time. That should definitely help.
Dont think Mourinho DNA has ever had long balls in it. Especially at Porto, Madrid, Inter, Chelsea. Think it’s been over exaggerated here. Mostly because Smalling, Jones, Rojo are all good artists!It should help, but I think a lot of that is just down to Mourinho. I mean lets be honest here, could you of seen us playing long ball under pep with the team we had last season?
Pep would of probably used something like a 3 of Herrera/matic, Pogba and Mata. Sure they are not on the level of City's midfield, but if we really wanted to play that kind of game and not long-ball, we could of done it a lot better.
Ultimately what I'm saying is, it's Mourinho DNA to resort to long-ball, so don't expect it to change with Fred!
