The Manchester United Thread

Sadly a bit underwhelming yeah, but squad started off good, later you coming back more.
Yeah we started well first 10 then you came back into it then we started getting better the last parts. We have been very unusually sloppy in the final 3rd. Like your number 11 so far

Get in 1-0 Utd that’s a great header by the little man Hoogewerf :)

Now Leeds have a man sent off for a second yellow. Deserved for sure.

Shortire off for Sotona who got cramp. And Hoogewerf off for Forson who has done his hamstring. 76 mins gone.

Wellens off now for Stanley. Wellens been poor tonight as has Helm tbh.

FT 1-0 after 97 mins. Good cup tie tbh both teams nervy throughout and lacked quality. Thought Leeds were a little to overboard with some challenges. Was impressed by Creswell and the No11. Mengi was motm absolute beast. Bejger at RFB also had another good game.

Logan Pye 16yr old Sunderland and u16 England international left back, we've signed him after giving him a 5yr contract. The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea were also interested in him. Will join next season.

#mufc impressed with Polish teenage trialist - 15yo Zaglebie Lubin CB Bartosz Matuła is back home from a trial spell in Manchester

Player's father says #mufc will continue talks with the Poland U16/U17 playerhttps://sport.nowiny.pl/sport/148005-bartosz-matula-pozostaje-pod-obserwacja-manchesteru-united.html …

#mufc trialist Zito Luvumbo was player of the tournament at the COSAFA U17 Championships last summer, which his team (Angola) won. Will return for a second trial later this season.

American lad on trial also https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...academy-gets-manchester-united-training-stint

Did not manage to watch second half but shame to go down like this. Lads where a bit too excited and overplaying it. Some glimpses of good stuff that should have been scored and too reckless in defending. And lose from a set-piece shows that teams where even.

Could see some defo have the talent. Just got a bit overwhelmed by the occasion I think. A few of ours did the same.

Bleh. Ekstraklasa will never stop being a joke with all these ******* rich clubs poaching our local talent already at 15 years old.

Even talking about a 15-year-old is madness let alone anything else.

Yeah that's another thing, I have no idea why this **** is even legal. International transfers shouldn't be allowed until kid is 18 and finished high school. With a 15-year old it's the parents calling all the shots and a lot of them just have $$$$ in mind.

Most of the people want to escape poverty. Getting your kid chance to go to the better system where he'll get more opportunities (rather than just football) is a chance not many will pass. He'll get better coaches, better schools as well.
Most parents want whats best for their child. There's plenty of examples of people moving from east to western countries in search for better life.
While it sucks for Polish football, its a great opportunity for the kid. Dude, at age of 15 being at the one of the biggest clubs in the world. Imagine the feeling.

Meet Hannibal Mejbri, the 17-year-old Manchester United youngster who cost £9.3m and wants to emulate Eric Cantonahttps://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/meet-hannibal-mejbri-the-17-year-old-manchester-united-youngster-who-cost-9-3m-and-wants-to-emulate-eric-cantona-0drkgxxch

The part you're missing is that 90% of those kids will never make it in top flight football. So imagine the feeling when great big club axes you and you're 18 with no clear future. Happens all the time.

Heck, my hometown club sold a 19-year old defender a while back. Makes a debut, plays half a season, goes to Italy for $5m. Yearly budget of the club is $10m, so you know what, fair enough, I can live with that. When they're poaching 15-year olds on junior contracts, what do clubs get? Bag of donuts and a handshake?

Plus if it doesn't work out, he at least made a professional debut here and proven himself, so he can always come back and still make a enough to become indepently wealthy.

It's not good for the kids and it isn't good for football anywhere apart from the leagues in 3 countries.
