The Manchester United Thread

Leicester were simply the better team.
Fred ain't a bad player, he's useful. His problem is he lacks some fundementals for a midfielder. He gets bullied of the ball and his passing is iffy. McTominay and Fred are way to similar to function in a system other than a counterattack.

Pogba adds more diversity, but it's Pogba. Also not the best player when put under constant pressure. Yet still one of the rare United players who can decide the game on his own.

Donny is a victim of the system, players around him do not blend with him. He has great movement and is a smart player, making runs into the box or dummies for other players but he's not a creative force. Neither are Martial, Rasford or Greenwood. At least not consistent enough.

Matić simply put lost his ground this season, just a shell of former self. Still can play some part, but would't it be better if his minutes were disturbed to a Garner (who's playing really good at the moment) and Mejbri (another who has loads of creativity in his arsenal). Since United 99% wont be buying a new midfielder, those 2 should get the chance to impress.

To be honest that result had been coming for a while. A lack of creativity in the midfield outside of Bruno and Pogba is the weakness. Matic needs to go at the end of the season he just isn't up to the Premiership standard. Fred has shown flashes of ability at times but after nearly 4 years at the club you would have thought he would have learnt how the English game works. McTominay is not and never will be a flair player but, he is probably the only one worth keeping as he normally when working alongside a more creative player like Pogba is happy to do all the 'dirty' jobs and be effective doing so. At the moment the squad is in desperate need of more creativity if only to give Bruno a rest. With one less competition to worry about and an international break coming up there maybe a chance for some to rest, recover, and sort themselves out.
Fred and McTominey are bench players at best. We need a DM/DLP desperately to partner with Pogba. Garner can definitely be that player but it’s maybe a year to early for him. But he should definitely be in the squad next season getting minutes.

Yeah while being young I really hope Garner gets a chance he’s more than ready now to start being eased into the first team during next season. Then hopefully the likes of while being young Hannibal, Shortire, Amad, Pellistri and maybe Chong can bring some excitement/creativity to the team. We still need an out and out quality ready RW to go along with a Better partner for Maguire. 2 absolute musts this summer!

All this talk of Haaland seems so fruitless, atm the striker is just graveyard shift in United team.

I wasn't happy at all with the attitude, selection but especially the subs... how the F did Fred play 83 minutes yesterday? This is exactly why Ole has so many critics, his crucial decisions in games leave A LOT to be desired.

Very disappointing that we have bottled such a great chance to make a final. So many silly errors, disgusting performance from the management and players.

Fred should of been yanked but for who god knows. Yeah big chance missed. I thought Fernandes should of started but even after coming on and Shaw tbh. They just looked fooked. Pogba and VdB were blowing out there arses by the time they went off. Greenwood was good but was dead the last 20 mins. We look a very tired squad atm and hopefully the break does is some good.

Only another 20 years or so of 'rinse and repeat' before the Glaziers might finally F off and Utd's cycle might finally come around again.

Hang in there mate.

Coaching team have better insight on who's staying and who's not. If Pogba is leaving, then there's a huge gap in midfield that needs to be filled. Well, at least in terms of creativity.

I really hope he stays in the current climate it will already be hard to get the 2/3 players in we need to improve us. Let alone thinking of replacing Pogba on top of that. Might get some funds if DDG leaves this summer.

Saul could be an interesting option from Atletico. Nearly left to Bayern last window. And has fallen out with the manager and not starting that many games.

Current state has affected everyone, so clubs who needs to sell will still be selling and clubs who are buying will be buying. I doubt we'll see crazy deals unless you're top, top player.
Thing with Saul, Kessie and similar player is - yes, they are better then Fred or McTominay, but what they offer is not that much different. They'd need to sell Fred and then get one of them for example. Otherwise you're just adding players for no reason.

But first and foremost - coaching issues needs to be fixed. Attacking movement needs to be more fluid, there's a lack of dummy runs, one-twos or simple runs in behind ( and not just striker, you need wingers/midfielder even fullbacks to start doing that).

Would happily let go of Matic and Bring in Saul. He’s a huge huge upgrade on either McFred and also has the ability to be more forward thinking. He’s much more than just a work horse.

Friend of Eric Bailly: "He feels that no matter what he does, he will never be first choice for Ole. He now realises he’s too good and too young to spend his time sitting on the bench." #mulive [sky]

Friend of Eric Bailly: "Eric loves the club and the fans, his family are settled in Manchester and he’d like nothing more than to spend the rest of his career at Old Trafford. But he feels the club has been very disrespectful towards him & frankly he’s had enough." #mulive [sky]

Eric Bailly fears Manchester United are offering him a new contract simply to guarantee a bigger transfer fee for him in the summer.

Saul is a serious baller. One of the few players in world football who can play anywhere on the pitch and look like he has been playing the position for years. Javier Zanetti vibes from him.

Has he strung more than 5 games together. Don't understand what he means by disrespect as he can't stay fit for very long. The fact he has been offered a contract is a bemusement to me.
