The Manchester United Thread

2 of them defo don’t want to sell. The problem is the rest of the family and the rest of the shareholders do. They will sell but are trying to bleed every last penny out of one of the two buyers like they have done the club for 13 years. And like everything with the Glazers and United it’s a long drawn out circus.
Circus being the operative word with them.

Inter now have Onana replacement agreed. Hopefully an announcement today. Then onto a STR. That back up keeper we have agreed terms with looks a player also. So hopefully that’s announced early next week. Should mean Henderson out the door and some funds in towards other squad players.

I’m still waiting on that Onana announcement we were promised TOD
Today or tomorrow. No rush anyway as long as it’s done before they fly out for for the tour in 4 days. ETH said after the Leeds match no new signings or first team players will feature on Wednesday night vs Lyon. Good sign is this morning it looks like the fee could now be 43m£ including add ons instead of plus add ons.

The Alba links starting to come out are very interesting. Would replace a lot of the players we are trying to get rid of in signing him.

I would take 30m tbh
Some would pay West Ham to take him lets' be honest. £30m - £40m would be nice. After all he is now in his 30's so his value will only drop from now on. £30m for Maguire and the same for Henderson and it may just help get a decent forward in plus possibly a back up keeper. Most fans would be happy at that. Ideally if more deadwood goes ie Fred, Bailly, Telles and possibly Martial then another midfielder and a defender could be got.

Regardless of what some clueless fans think, Maguire is a good player in a right system. That range would be reasonable for him. Might be a bit lower depending on Maguire's salary demands. But I do think he'd fit WH and Moyes like a glove. Maguire really, really needs to move away from United, for his own sake.

In the right system anyone is a good player to be fair. However, Maguire isn't in the right system and it shows. Now he's been removed a captain he may just realise that it is time to move on if only for his place in the England set up.

Well some players play better in system that hides their weak spots better. High pressing game is not for Maguire.

There's a reason why City were following him for a year. It just shows how good their football structure is when they realized he would not fit, at least for the quoted price.

Not just international career, he's 30. He has at most 2 big(ish) contracts left. He's a naturally slow player so him playing in late 30s shouldnt be much of an issue. Also moving from the spotlight will only do him good, he doesnt need the heath United brings.

He is **** poor slow.
He is turned easily and left on his *** or fouling an attacker.
He cant read the game at all (shocking for a man of his age).
He goes off into stupid positions to try control situations all by himself with no awareness of the bigger picture.
He gets tunnel vision and has no idea where his team mates are, nor the opposition.

That doesn't just make him a **** captain... It makes him a substandard player in modern football.

Agreed with the first two points but I think the rest is down to a lack on confidence tbh.
He wasn’t this bad in his first 2 seasons

He just doesn't fit at United. Too much of a bite for him. He's good for England, more than good.
There are quite a few defenders that left United, deemed not good enough, to have more than a decent career after. I have a feeling Maguire's gonna be one of them, if he does leave.

Sky Italia/Di Marzio reporting now that Onana is done for 43m€ inc add ons. Will travel tomorrow or early Tuesday. That’s a cracking deal !
