The Manchester United Thread

1. If I were KAGAWA I would retire (or return to Dortmund) rather than be insulted by further sitting on the bench in a team where Valencia, Welbeck, Cleverley and Young all get game time first.

He had next to no pre-season.

2. One week to go and we are still short of a player to boss the midfield as well as a player to create from the midfield. I also shudder to think what will happen when RIO gets rested and Vida injured. If these two events coincide we ll be in deep merde (as they say in French). I like both Smalling and Evans but feel that unless they each play next to RIO/VIDA they are wobbly.

3. Also was it just me (I was at the match btw) or did Moyes play for the draw (or rather was he too scared to be adventurous). Seemed so and was very un-Utd.

You can hardly blame Moyes for employing caution in his first home game, against a tough opponent. He's well known for being a reactive manager, so United knew exactly what they were getting when the appointed him.

Dont think so. He hasnt had full pre season to be precise. Still, after 3 seasons Im still trying to understand the point of Young, Valencia has been awful for at least a year now, Cleverley is blunt and Welbeck flatters to deceive. Only justification I can see from his omission is what KLOPP said: that his real position is "in the hole" and thus there is a clash with Rooney.

Rooney was good btw last nite. People are a bit OTT claiming he was great (his touches especially the first ones were a bit off and there was no end product plus he gave me the impression he was trying too hard: to show he cared, to show Mourinho to bid again I dunno). T

Good points. Im not going to lie I never liked Moyes and it will take a lot to change my mind about him tho. I hope we are more positive vs LFC on Sunday.

Kagawa is going to play in the hole or high left. So its no real comparison to Young or Valencia there, as they were deployed right.

Last season he had 18 starts, 13 of them as AMC. His 3 best games were out wide on the left though.

Rooneys work rate was there and I think that's what most fans were pleased with, not really his overall play. Noone would give two flying monkeys though or recognised that from yesterday if it wasn't for all the speculation surrounding him lately, so yeah he wasn't that great, but for someone who supposedly 'wanted to leave' he done well

I wouldn't say Rooney was his sparkling best last night however I don't think in sport there is anything wrong with trying to hard and his work rate was through the roof and majority of his passes were on target. The reason why we drew though was (in my opinion) the whole lot of our players lacked anything even remotely close to a killer ball, except for Rooney's ball to RVP in the box, but even that wasn't right.
Which leads me to the second point I highlighted. I could not agree with you more about the pointless Young, and Valenica has really annoyed me this last year. When he is going down the flank he does one of three things majority of the time, he will usually pass it to our RB and want nothing else to do with the attack after that, or, he down right refuses to take on his man and will pass it elsewhere or the worst one of the lot, he will do fantastic run down the right beating one or two players then put in a cross so pitiful it's embarrassing. He seriously needs to buck his ideas up. Because Moyes' will eventually realize we have much better players form wise than he is, I.E Zaha or Kagawa( Which I can't beleive he is being left rotting on the bench when he should be players who deserve to start).

I think the way the game went we looked much more positive in the second half, but lacked incision. Valencia who did a job but was near on useless going forward, Rooney was good but wouldn't say anything special, however when back into it a bit more feel could get back to his best. I whilst not a fan of Cleverly thought he did very well in both phases (with the exception of his shot ofc), would say we need another more creative midfielder imo though.

Its like Moyes and Wenger are playing chicken to see who will panic buy first.

I thought Kondogbia would of been on the agenda.... but yet again... how I was wrong. Either that or he likes his pay check better at Monaco, which could be a possibility.

Group A: Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Sociedad

Pretty tricky group, expect us to progress though.
