The Manchester United Thread

I don't know man, Moyes saying he had one spot for Nani or Kagawa and he chose Nani was just depressing to read. I'm not in Kagawa should be played brigade but how can Moyes justify leaving Kagawa out and Nani in when Nani was just coming back from injury. At least he should have been on the bench.

Didn't know he said that. Has to be more to it Hopefully he just wants Giggs there as the experienced man or something. Surely can't continue with his form.

Both not fit, perhaps he chose Nani because he thought he was fitter? That said, both should have been on the bench. Drop Giggs for Anderson

Fair play to Moyes, you lot actually got out and tried to pass it today. Last few years under Fergie it was more of a 'sit back and defend' game. Though, that may be because you were down so early
Exactly. This United team was easy pick for aggressive Liverpool midfield. With Young starting on the left, and Giggs on the right, we lost width, as both of them cut inside. That left us with Evra, who was marked really good for most of the game. Jones isn't good in attack, he's workhorse, nothing else. I really fail to see how could he be something more than a rotational player if he stays in defense. Same goes for Smalling. Typical English CBs, strong, fast but low tehnique. We lacked creative player, maybe thus Giggs started, to provide that spark and to try and keep the ball, since we all knew Liverpool will press our midfielders. And Giggs failed. He was never good at holding the ball and passing it around under the pressure. He's to slow for that nowdays.
So, Liverpool committed more players in midfield and shut down Welbeck and Cleverley with ease. And without help from from wide players to stretch the opposition defense, RVP was marked all the time. Very, very poor game from Moyes, apart from 'try and pass out of defence'.

Herrera would be perfect. He's pretty much what we expect from Cleverley and Anderson. Can tackle, excellent passing range and he can play his way out of trouble. This last part we lack so much. One dribble that can give us extra man when we're attacking.

And for last part, where the **** is Kagawa? Giggs and Welbeck shouldn't start in AM spot if Kagawa is even 50% match fit.

Yeah, experience is all good but we have RVP, Vidic, Evra, Rio, Carrick. That's more than what is needed. Moyes is playing it very safe with picking old players everytime, Nothing wrong with proven performers like RVP, Vida, Rio, Carrick, Evra but starting Giggs in high intensity games and not taking him off till so late was a mistake IMO.

We lost almost all 50-50 ball in the first half, we need someone who is not afraid to get stuck in and signing Fellaini would improve us so much. Hopefully Fellaini and Herrera will be completed tomorrow.

Would have loved to see Anderson starting instead of Cleverley, Kagawa on the bench.

Need some directness and someone who is ready to play risky passes from midfield.

Three people should play AMC,

Rooney
Kagawa
Anderson.

And no one else

Fergie had a habit of starting Giggs for these games as well. The only time I'd say it worked was Madrid.

Anderson would have helped the tempo much more and would actually have tried to drive through midfield with the ball. Completely forgot about him as an option. Far too easy for them to just sit in front of Cleverley and Carrick, they looked lost for what to do.

If somehow we end up with Kagawa and Rooney unfit too, I'd rather see Welbz/Hernandez up top with RVP dropping off too.

Thought vidic and Ferdinand done quite well considering how they usually play at Anfield. But starting Giggs was a terrible decision. Also thought Cleverly is basically our Henderson. Doesn't pass forwards

Yeah, either started or came on as sub which was very frustrating. Hopefully this is just a short term because of all the injuries we have.

RVP himself said he is more of a 9 and half than 9. He is good with hold up play but IMO he can't release one of our wingers like Rooney does with his diagonal passes. Those are just awesome, Scholesque. But like you said he is our better option without Rooney and Kagawa.

With the amount of panic and overreaction you'd have thought this was the Arsenal thread...

Anderson loves a diagonal as well. Need to get Nani back fit and firing so we actually have a winger to release..

All the spoilt, fickle fans are out in force on twitter. We should just finish 4th and detox.

I swear to christ if Fellaini does join tomorrow I'll be raging like I've never done before. We won't even get a chance to bring a replacement. Once again no-one has heard of preparation. Jesus christ in a porche. But at the same time I'm taking these reports with a tub of salt never mind a pinch

Tbf, you have been talking to Wigan about James McCarthy.

Second half was a lot better .First half was still a disgrace.Giggs should not start these matches.Kagawa should have played atleast 20 min even if he is 70% fit or tell us what is wrong with him.Cleverly needs to improve massively for him to become a success here otherwise i dont see him staying long here. And now i hope we actually sign someone .Vidic and ferdi are still the best cb partnership for us.

That's the thing. We've made enquires, and Newcastle are interested aswell but we don't have the best history on deadline day. And if we lost Baines (god forbid) we'd be screwed beyond belief. Our main thread has pretty much down the left.
