The Manchester United Thread

I am generally shocked so many fans are somewhat against it lol, Fellaini is the exact sort of player United could do with in midfield

Well I can say one thing. As an Everton fan, and seeing him play, change games, score some great goals he is anything but average. Anyone who say's he is average knows nothing simple as.

Though hopefully the Utd medical staff can sort out his "twitchy elbow" syndrome lol

You know I've got a feeling this Herrera deal isn't going to go through on time.

You are gonna make me lose a bet with a friend who said we wont buy anything above 25 mil pounds **** ! It should complete if we buying out the clause.Someone find us some good videos of herrera in action.

He can get tips from Rooney to get away with it

Exactly. Plus he was a realistic target unlike others and we should have gone for him much earlier as I said a couple of weeks ago even when I got frustrated by us chasing players such as FABREGAS who are better (yes I know they play in difrent positions!) but were NEVER going to come.

I still think we should also have gone for OZIL rather than HERRERA plus COENTRAO rather than BAINES (who we are not going to get it seems so lets all pray that the glass FABIO is made of wont break too often cos BUTTNER frankly gives me the shivers).

Footballers have to adapt, no player plays the same role throughout his career. And you probably could have gone for a better player but that is down to Moyes, Fellaini is still a class player and I really am surprised you don't think so because so many United fans and neutrals think it is a good move

I understand that, I just feel he is not the player to solve United's midfield problems. He is a brilliant player when the team is built to suit him, however I don't feel like he would be amazing in a team where it's not built to suit him. Plus add his ability to get sent off for something rash, it doesn't strike me as the best bit of business imo.

You're asking me a question I simply can't answer because I'm not David Moyes lol, only thing I can think of is back then he had other targets in the front of his mind, most likely Fabregas, who would of been a better buy than Herrera or Fellaini, which is understandable.

I get that, you can't answer for him, but what strikes me is the fact that he didn't buy out his release clause which surely he would have done if he really wanted him to follow him to United. Hence the fact I feel like he is settling for second best as he can't get any of his targets. So either Moyes can't attract the big names that he wants, or he is just so indecisive, either way I don't think he has handled the incoming transfer side of the transfer window too well.

It will be a great miss for Everton if he does go, especially seeing as it may be a little to late for any sort of replacement aswell. It's a shame but hopefully Everton don't suffer because of it!

Well, I gotta say it really is weird how long this Fellaini deal takes. Stealing best player of your previous club on a deadline day? It has a vibe of a panic buy or serious incompetence in handling the transfer market.

Not necessarily. We have 2 (YES 2!!!!! lol) targets on the verge of joing up before 11:00 pm lol. Fernando and James McCarthy. If all goes smoothly of course. Watch this space :)

Is it even moving? Is there anything to this that suggests it will happen? I don't see if there was why it would take this long.

We have always built for the future, It's who we are as a club and why it has made us so successful. So the class of 92 with the likes of ****, P.Neville & G. Neville, Giggs, Becks, Scholes were built for the future and they were the back bone of united for 15 years. Now, with an average age of 26, with the likes of Rafeal or Zaha, Welbeck, Cleverly, De Gea, Fabio, Smalling to name but a few.
The only players we have bought in the last 6 years at the peak of their age and skill is RVP and Berbatov. United have always looked to the future when we make signings, always. I'm not saying to not bring in a big name, I'm saying in a few years from now do we want to be going for years W/O a midfielder like we have for the past 5 years.

Jesus Christ, you are taking what I'm saying wrong, I know it's not a game. Anyway I don't see why you are arguing about this as we won't be getting De Rossi, the biggest name we will get this market is Fellaini. I want De Rossi, I want Fellaini and I want Herrera, I have no idea why you have taken offence to me saying we should look for the future as well as improving now. And stop capitalizing words please, I can read just fine without that.

1. Ill CAPITALISE whatever I want mate.
2. Im not arguing, I know what you are saying. Plus I know we mostly agree on this.
3. Im not taking offence, god forbid. If you I let you think that then I apologise. We are all bound together by our love for UTD so if we cant be passionate about them WTF?
4. Please read carefully what I write. I never said we dont build for the future (our whole history since even before MUNICH is based on building this way). I never said we should not build either. All I tried to say is that being UTD we should always crave success and if a player is class and can improve us immediately then we should go for him irrespective of his age.
5. And had we gone for DE ROSSI earlier the buzz is we could have got him. Generally this summer has not filled me with confidence as to our planning and this is another example.

Correct me if I am wrong but United are screaming out for a ball winner in the middle. Cleverley certainly isn't the player for it nor is Ando or the other options United have. How can Fellaini not be seen as the right buy?

So what you are saying that because it has been left late it is a bad move? So therefore if Moyes had got Fellaini straight away, you would think it was a good deal? That makes no sense to me at all. Moyes in previous transfer windows has got a good record of doing well and finding the right buy. Look at the players he has picked up for Everton in the past that have turned into absolute quality acts, to name a few - Cahill, Arteta, Fellaini, Jagielka, Lescott, Pienaar. He took 3 of those from Championship sides and one from a Spanish team where nobody would have ever thought they would be as good as they are now. Fellaini was a big gamble and it paid off.

I don't think anyone can deny Moyes is USUALLY good in the market, this season I think maybe the whole Manchester United manager thing has put him off a little and made him somewhat decisive. Moyes knows what he is doing though I think, he just needs to start adapting, and quick.

Last I heard he is missing Belgium's training camp, so something must be in motion. Unless he just didn't catch his plane ;)

Can't say I know much about Fernando but James McCarthy is solid for sure. Good little player and still got some potential left in the tank, what's the fee for him out of interest?

Think it was something like £14 million which is what their chairman deemed "acceptable". And I think it was £15 million for Fernando (solid midfielder)

Aye Belgium gave him more time to complete his move

AS Bilbao reporter say United have 3 reps at the Spanish league HQ to pay the fee.

Jesus. I suppose that is what to expect in this market though. That certainly suggests to me that the Fellaini deal will go ahead then, Everton set to spend around 30M and probably recoup the same.

Pretty much yeah. I'd be amazed if it didn't happen. Saying that I shouldn't be on deadline day-there's been madness before
