The Manchester United Thread

Ozil would have been pretty useless in that kinda system tbh, the problem was balance between defence and midfield. The whole pass to Evra, cross into the centre thing needs sorting out, and Utd could have certainly looked at a scoreline something like 4-3 if either side had a bit more luck. Still, a win is what was needed, away at a side bottom of the league with a change of manager, and whilst unconvincing against that qualify of opponent, three points and another week to train his team better seems more useful to Utd right now.

Can't wait to see Januzaj in a Juve shirt after Woodward opens contract talks with a cheeky offer of ?100 a week and 2 packets of Hula Hoops.

It can't be ManUtd fault if he leaves tbh, Pogba didn't get chances but Januzaj is getting plenty of games.

Hopefully we tie up his contract, he is going to be great player.

I would still take Oezil in a heartbeat.

Januzaj 1 start - 2 goals.

Ozil ?

Btw, it was a joke and like few said with the way our players move Ozil would look as clueless as any of our attacking players. Today Nani and Januzaj were the only players who made some runs and had the off the ball movement, rest all including RVP just stood there waiting for something to happen.

Here is a fun fact, Nani And Valencia have scored 2 goals in the space of 83 starts apparently (heard this on Sky Sports) compared to Januzaj 2 goals in 1 start. Also Moyes was fielded questions by reporters about the FA calling up Moyes to see if Januzaj would want to play for England as he is eligible lol.

What a goal though and that save by De Gea....wow. ****** amazing. If we don't tie down Januzaj for a minimum 3 year contract I am going to be one **** of a ****** of fan, as we should have learned from the mistake of letting Pogba go.

Even more fun fact, Januzaj has scored more goals or at least same number of goals as Ozil, Walcott, David Silva, Jesus Navas, Jovetic, Eriksen, Hazard, Mata, Eto'o, Ba, Torres, Coutinho, Carzola, Schurrle combined in the league. :P

Januzaj carrying United ;)
Bit lucky that Sunderland couldn't find a second in the first half, they really should have.

Januzaj is what United need right now, not necessarily on the pitch, but it must be a real confidence-boost to see him playing so well at the age of 18. Moyes'll be well chuffed.

Swings both ways, ManUtd were unlucky that Nani didn't finish that volley.

For a record Sunderland chances were created because of sloppy mistakes that you won't see from ManUtd defenders 9/10 times. We didn't create many chances but we controlled the game completely.

True enough but Sunderland did look much more likely to score first half and out of the three great chances they had should have scored at least two of them, granted De Gea did pull out a great save.
United have looked very shaky at the back recently, second half was a massive improvement though over the first.

I'd heard how good Januzaj was in pre-season, but this performance was brilliant, fair play to him! Only 18-years-old but he was arguably United's best player on the pitch yesterday. I've got him in my Fantasy Premier League team for next week now.

Ok, we won and the kid played well but if we re frank we werent all that great again (no consistent energy, passion etc plus we keep making silly defensive errors/get terrified with every opposition attack).

A lot needs to improve against better opponents ....

I agree but we have to start somewhere I guess and a win is a win.

I think the best thing to do would be to massively over-hype Januzaj and create Macheda mark II. Wait til the guy's played a few more first team games.

Januzaj for England? Don't do that to him.....
He isn't even eligible.. Not to mention the fact he (understandably) doesn't want to play for England. Roy Hodgson hasn't got a clue.

When did he ever say he doesn't want to play for England? I can only see quotes claiming he refused callups for Belgium because he wants to play Albania.

It doesn't really matter since he wont be able to play for England, but I'm just curious where you got not wanting to play for England from.

You know its got nothing to do with not wanting to play for England right? Its just about playing for Albania, he doesnt want to play for Belgium either, has refused all their youth call ups.

To play for England he first needs to be naturalised which means waiting 3/4 years (not sure) without playing as an international.

Good thinking wanting to play for Albania - his family are Albanian Kosovars who emigrated to Belgium. Guy obviously feels Albanian above and beyond. Thats real patriotism ...
