The Manchester United Thread

Strong rumours that Ferguson is at the game today between Switzerland and Iceland at the U21 tournament, although some are saying that he's still on holiday. Either way MUFC are being represented at the game.

Really hope we try and sign Shaqiri/Xhaka. Xhaka is quality.

is the x silent? like you call him haka?

I've loved Shaqiri since the first time I saw him play <3

Would be thrilled if Fergie is really interested in Shaqiri. I think he's quite a talent.

Shaqiri > Young anyway.. probably be cheaper, he's younger, he's tactically smart, both feet and importantly knows how to keep it simple but is more than capable of moments of magic to win a game.

Think he'd be an excellent signing, plus he's left footed so will fit right in on the left hand side and wouldn't demand nearly as high a wage.

I hope Shaqiri doesnt go to united.
Xhaka wont he is a good player but not united quality imo.

I reckon Shaqiri's a player who thrives on being a 'big fish in a small pond' type player, in a team full of quality, he'll do little imo.
Either way, I think he'd only come in you offload some wingers, (Bebe/Obertan etc) because Young's as good as signed.

I'd much prefer Shaqiri or Sanchez if the reported wages Young will be on are true tbh.

I'm assuming thats why we may be meeting sanchez, we may yet pull out of the young deal

call me a pessimist but, how are we affording all this?!?!?
don't get me wrong i'm not complaining

Sanchez>Young according to me and I am pretty sure Sanchez will demand less wages than Young too

Probably, even on the wages though at least he'd be somewhat worth it, and younger with more potential.

United have £100million+ available for transfers.
Not to mention the new sponsor next season I believe which will help.

Just a word of advice mate... unless ur a accountant u cant really throw figures around like that tbh, no one can know for sure how much money Fergie will be sanctioned to spend

Hate to break it to you, but just because United are in debt, doesn't mean United can't spend money they gain from their commercial empire and sponsorships. And without spending so much last couple of seasons, United have a nice kitty build up.
Also, The money coming in is probably split up. Some goes to paying back the debt, the rest goes into the club (improving facilities and/or to buy new players).

Just a word of advice, unless you're the manager of Man Utd, you cant say how much a player will play football, like you were doing earlier in the thread. ^^)

Just a word of advice.. We can be say how much Fergie can potentially have, looking through the accounts and figures.

if only Puddz had phrased it like that but again his statement sounded more like he knew how much United had to spend and either way i doubt its 100m+

Just a word of advice mate, read our financial report before you make statements like that. We have £113M in the bank at the moment, and will go up to £180M by the end of the summer..

read it but that does not mean the Glazers will sanction over 100m worth of transfers according to me atleast unless United want to have a spending spree before the FFP kicks in which sounds very un-Fergie like to me
