@GuillemBalague - People doubting David de Gea? Seriously? No, no, seriously?? Hahahahahahaha... it will be a feast of eaten words at the end of the season

De Gea has been learning English (slowly) for 6 months. I see lots of Utd fans sticking by him. Well done lads, we'll b proven right

I was a goalie when younger (now a poor centre midfielder in 7 a side). De gea not just good. He is extraordinary

No-one can know what will happen, Utd have also signed some world class players who turned out flops and also signed some flops who stayed flops especially in the keeping department. I said it before that with the exception of Schmeichel and VDS the Utd keepers under Fergie haven't been great and the few that were Howard and Foster recently they just let go. Im not writting the lad off because potentialy he could become the best in the world one day but personly i think SAF panicked and it reminded him of the situation with Cech when he decided not to sign him because he was too young and we all know how that turned out.

SAF didn't panic, they have been watching him for 18 months. SAF wanted VDS to stay one more year to integrate the two

I have always said it would have made more sence getting him in last season, when did VDS announce his decision to retire?? Im pretty sure it was at the beggining of last season, if so Fergie would have had a hunch.

Announced it around February I think..

He announced his retirement in January IIRC although he did have second thoughts in May.

Actually that was when he decided to play again

It was in Jan he decided. No deal could have been done last season, hadnt watched him enought and Atletico werent interested

It just seems huge responcability on such young shoulders and now with Rio and possibly Vidic out having 2 young CB's is maybe what he dosen't need at the moment.

He has to learn sometime. manchester is the best place that he could do so

Its a great place for him to be i have no doubt about that, but against better opponents who you will find it harder to break down he will cost you points and its just a matter of how long will Fergie give it.

What would have him coming in last season have done? He would have been second choice to VDS anyway, so either way he was going into this season inexperienced to the PL. This way he got a full season being first choice for Atletico, any benefits of him coming last season are minor compared to that.

How the **** can you say that with any certainty? seems you want to write him off

I could have seen him getting 15+ appearences last season and working very closely with a keeper like VDS i think that would have benefited him more.

In the short term i think he will struggle but in the long term i believe he will become top class.

I'd rather he have another full season in a top league, than spend £18m when at the time there was still a chance VDS would carry on for a season, meaning a potential 2 seasons for him playing second string. Don't see what you're getting at.

I just think it would have been better for the lad if Utd got him last season thats all.

Still we can ask VDS to work him for few days. Its no biggie. Its very important that young players get first team chances and by delaying one year De Gea got plenty of it. I dont know how much he would have improved by sitting on our bench. Last season he put MOTM performance against Barca. How much performances like that have helped him?

We have Eric Steele who will be working with De Gea.

I'm bit worried about playing De Gea against Spurs tbh. We all know VDV is beast from range, and De Gea had problems with that. One clean sheet will do wonders for him..

Our lads on loan have played well.

De Laet conceded penalty but later made few very good blocks.

Wootton and Tunnicliffe played well according to match reports and members in Posh forums.

It was Ferguson’s changes that had the most effect, though. With Tunnicliffe trying to drive Posh on with a performance full of real effort the away side suddenly snapped back into life and started playing some nice football again.

Tunnicliffe 7 Had the boy been on the pitch for the full ninety I think he may have been man of the match, the game turned after him and Alcock came on and we almost (for a change) snatched victory from the jaws of defeat

Wootton 8 for me he was man of the match coming in presumably at a late date, his confidence is startling for one so young and I can see it being difficult for Fergie to break up that partership on the return of Zak and the emergence of Thompson.

Man Utd are only considering selling a minority stake - perhaps no more than 25%. It could raise £400m.
