The Manchester United Thread

What I found most astounding-the levels of fitness of the players. Was amazing how they kept up that tempo for 90 minutes.

Muniain's burst of pace for the 3rd goal towards the end of the game was astonishing.

Well it's debatable, yes they are incredibly fit, but I think it's something that some people can miss out sometimes, they are some of the few teams in the world (there are still some players like this) that play for love for their shirt, that makes a difference, and a big one, it's something rare nowadays in the game but look at them and how they play, sheer basque strong will, that's why I admire them, show a big lesson to many prima donna players in this world that get paid millions and make a tantrum at first opportunity because they want more money, ungrateful bastards...

****, I hate our midfield. Very, very, very poor movement. I couldn't even use world movement. They just stood there. Also, we have fast players, I really can't understand why can't we play more aggressive ? Our midfield was overran by Bilbao's, and can someone please say to me, is Giggs, Jones and Park in midfield worse than Bilbao's midfield ?

Yes it is! Javi Martinez, Iturraspe, Herrera are excellent midfielders and Susaeta is above the average winger, De Marcos is decent but compensates with over effort. Honestly out of those three in the MU midfield, Giggsy is the best.

I think our fans were ****. I didnt hear them... They need some Serbian fans over there to show them how it goes...

Yes, actually. A (admittedly still wonderful) 38 year old, a converted centre-back, and a workhorse in midfield against Javi Martinez and the two Anders Iturraspe and Herrera? Only one winner there.

Javi Martinez and Iturraspe played defenders tonight, and we still couldn't cope with pressure. Our movement is really poor ( yet again i'm using movement).

Those two have the advantage to be good at creating, attacking, and defending, very complete players, altough Martinez is obviously better. United needs some buys in the summer, for sure.

Even tho first two played CB and LB tonight, we can't cope with pressure at all. Even against Norwich and Stoke. Lack of agility and movement in midfield cost us too much this season. I just can't understand why Fergi doesn't demand more running ?

With investment Man Utd should be back to the top of Europe again next season, Fergie is an incredible manager so thats half the job done.

No question about that. Still, it's hard to me to understand how we crack under pressure.

Only watched the first half due to cold, but I suppose the silver lining is that we didn't play our best team. Don't get me wrong, it's going to be hard as **** going to Bilbao (Is that the name of the city?) but if any team can pull of a comeback, you would think it would be United.

Well played Biesla and Athletic Bilbao... fully deserved win in my opinion

I have to say this loss is not a complete suprise because Bielsa is one of the greatest tacticians around and the level of preparation his team undergoes before games is incredible

People are criticising United and rightly so but give credit to Bilbao they played well! And anybody who saw the game would agree that some of our passing in the build up play was pretty good! And for everybody who is criticising us United are a team in transition and if anything so are Chelsea and Liverpool but we are the only ones who are doing it correctly. If anybody thinks that United are going to play like City or Barca week in week out then those people are wrong; we might do that in a few years but not now!

I have supported United in probably one of the worst eras in Fergie's time during 2004-05-06. Everybody was writing us off but we came back! The type of signings that were made then are needed again and If there's any manager who can do that is Ferguson!

I think some Man Utd fans are over-reacting after the loss to Bilbao and the sorry performance against Norwich. Lets get real, no club will win every game comfortably and Athletic Bilbao played really well in the game and took their chances. They pressurized United and United could not really adjust to the game.

That said I back United to take the match in 2 legs when they travel to Spain simply because they have the genius that is Sir Alex Ferguson add the fact that they will probably be fielding a stronger side to avoid a embarrassing early exit

I would be very surprised if our ***** wont be handed in plate at San Mames. Its a fortress. I would take narrow loss than embarrassing one.
