I think, although I'm not a Manchester United supporter, that it will be one of the players currently at the club. The defenders all have great potential, and maybe in the future a backline of [De Gea], Rafael, Smalling, Jones and Fabio will be in the first team. However, I do agree that Nemanja Vidic needs to be replaced as he is getting on a bit!I was just wondering who do you guys think is the long term replacement for Nemanja Vidic? At the moment he is only 30 so he has 3 - 4 seasons left maybe?
I know we have players like Smalling, Evans, Jones, do you think one of these is his replacement long term or do you think it will be someone else who we will buy? (For example, Subotic).
Sorry if it a bit out of the blue, I was just bored reading all this talk about officials and wanted some proper United discussion

Fair enough, but it is still a foul and who knows(?), United could have converted the resulting freekick. I guess he didn't go down or appeal for it (as far as I know), though, so maybe an advantage was played.

Anyone believe these rumours circulating that there is a deal in place to bring Nico Gaitan from Benfica already in place and it will be officially announced at the end of the season?
Personally I do not believe because where on earth would he fit into the side when we already have Valencia/Nani/Young.

The only way I can see him fitting would be to have Rooney as the main striker with Gaitan in AMC. But I don't see it happening.
Sorry Forum Moderator - Have a laugh once in a while. Gaitan will not join United, we've been linked with him since last summer, but Fergie went with Young instead - imo good option. To sign Gaitan would upset the wide position - I can't see him adapting to a more central role any time soon so unless they are planning on using Nani as they did Ronaldo a few seasons ago it would be a pointless signing. They'd be better off going for Eriksen or Martinez. The press are a bunch of **** heads and link United to any one who has a few good matches. He is a good player but not united material imo.

Looks like Eden Hazard is gonna be United bound, Rene Meulensteen has said that he is on Fergie's wanted list. Would be an awesome signing in my opinion, the long term Giggs replacement or he can play in behind the striker/s.

not to mention he is pretty much on the wanted list of most major European Clubs. His fee is the obstacle though. I know Ferguson has never been afraid of spending big if the right player comes by but Hazard looks set to go for close to 40m which might deter Ferguson.
So no way he is United-bound considering Harry Redknapp has gone to see him, Chelsea have been watching him since last season and RM Scout Zidane has been monitering him for ages as well
Not to mention that United hardly need Hazard. The 40m would be better spent on someone like Martinez or Modric

Errrr, Hazard is wanted by everyone in the top 4. Just because Ferguson has expressed an interest doesn't mean that United will get him, especially with the massive price and the fact that you already have 2 amazing wingers and Young. Much more likely to end up in London tbh, probably at Arsenal.

Its Meulensteen's interview. From last year or so think opposite of what he says. He said we are not looking for Strootman but interested in Hazard, so I would say we are more likely to sign Strootman. He is just a serial liar.

I reckon Utd are more likely to sign Modric than Hazard. Especially since Hazard has made himself available to pretty much every CL club in England, France, Italy and Spain. SAF isn't usually one to sign players who might have attitude probs IMO.
I did not mean it in a way that Ferguson cannot spend 40m. Its just that Ferguson would only do it if it was a special player/ special situation. I doubt Hazard is that player
