In my opinion, you make your own luck. I know there is a bit of luck involved with injuries, but it is also partly down to the training, physios and treatments of the players!

However, I have to say, I do feel for you as, in an 'average' season, you have got 89 points yet lost the title by a mere couple of goals. It's incredible how you even got in a position to be in it on the last day, with all the injuries and the lack of big signings!

Not much we can do about Vidic's titanium plated cruciates needing a service and Fletcher getting ill the way he has. Those two have been the biggest misses.

Kagawa doesn't seem like a great fit, but then who'd have thought Carrick and either Giggs and Scholes would work so strongly. If Kagawa does come in, he's reasonably cheap, and if he proves able to play CM he provides fantastic versatility across the whole attacking line, and could form a special midfield with a dynamic ball winner like Fellaini. There aren't too many regista's available that I can think of off the top of my head. Modric is obvious, but I have doubts we could get him now Spurs are in the CL, so perhaps we'll need to think outside of the box on creating our new midfield. Fellaini is the one I really hope comes in though.

Admittedly, all of our "big" injuries were in matches (Clevs vs Bolton, Vida vs Basel) or nothing to do with training (Fletch's illness)

Although, it's a testament to what could have been with all that happened that we were there and challenging up until, literally, the last seconds.

I can bet my left balls that he can't. He is not a CM. He is a pure attacking midfielder who excels playing behind striker. He is as much a CM as Ozil/Rooney/Welbeck is.

Not pure CM but has played there for dortmund i think berba and owen, macheda will leave in summer so that only leaves hernandez, welbeck as STR if rooney plays just off STR so i think kagawa would be good by to play in poss and rooney up top will give us cover if injury to other 2.

He played as AMC all season and he dropped deep to provide defensive cover when they were under pressure but on a whole he was in very advanced position, in the position exactly where Rooney likes to operate.

Don't think words can really describe the things that have transpired today. When the final whistle went at the Stadium of Light, United were in a position to be crowned champions. 3 minutes later, it all turned around. Can't say that City didn't deserve it in the end though - got more goals, conceded fewer, beat us twice (with the 6-1 influencing the GD a lot as well). An unbelievable day of football, it must be said.

Agree with rooney part mate but if we loose 3 strikers in summer rooney could ge used as main striker with kagawa behind just gives us that option if needed coz hernandez and welbeck still learning and will bound to pick up injuries to.

Wouldnt worry about where Kagawa plays, it gives us more tactical options. He may not be the only signing, if signed at all.

Yeah surely. I dont mind Kagawa, if anything I'm very excited and want him at United. Just saying he is not the answer for our CM woes. One thing I love about Kagawa is his ability to create something out of nothing like superb through ball on which Hernandez can thrive and score few goals.

If that was directed at me, then let me clear this. I was just clarifying the point from Joel's post. :)

Banega is the man. He provides the flair that we lack in midfield. Banega, Martinez, De Marcos, Modric anyone of them is amazing but I think we will end up with Fellaini.

Kagawa is an incredible player, playes amc/l/r. I actually bought him on fm 2008 or 9 before he moved to dortmund and he was incredible.

United keen on Lewandowski | Manchester United News, Fixtures, Results, Transfers | Sky Sports

Agent reports Manchester United are interested and the contract offer from Borrusia Dortmund is "unsufficient".

IF this is true then perhaps Fergie was looking at him at the weekend in the German Cup Final, I certainly think he would suit our game as he seems good in the air and with ball to feet, with Rooney playing behind him would be a great signing I recon.

Another striker. Seriously?

Another striker. Seriously?

Well if Berbatov and Owen are going in the summer that leaves us with two strikers and Rooney, but Rooney plays much better in the space behind the striker, so we would need another one ideally, Lewandowski would offer physical and aerial prescence which Hernandez and Welbeck do not really possess so therefore I think he would fit well, if anything I recon Kagawa would be someone we do not need because we have Rooney for that position.

If the 4-2-3-1 formation is anything to go by yesterday and is something we are going to start using regularly then Rooney could be the 'middle' part of the 3 behind the striker.
