The Manchester United Thread

You don't think so? Even though you've spent pages arguing with people arguing that very point, and yet you never argued against that point. You said our commercial advantage is unfair, but we earned that - it was no handout. You said a club can achieve succes with a business model and visionary, we've had that for 20+ years.

Agreed. Apologies... Edited my above post before you posted this

Actually I can sort of understand where your coming from although getting intangibles qualities like respect etc. into this argument is irrelevant

Are you suggesting that some of us dont respect Chelsea because of there method to the top? Speaking for myself I still respect them as a rival club, I just prefer the way my club got there. I've said it a few times before I'm not against the whole sugar daddy thing.

No I am not suggesting anything. I just do not feel 'respect' has anything to do with the argument at hand and I certainly do not want to delve into this whole issue as it will probably become rather messy

Ah right, I misunderstood what you were saying then, no biggy.

It has everything to do with it. Did the whole argument not start because of people posting how they don't like how sugar daddy clubs got their money?

Chelsea fans are always going to be annoyed at United's revenue streams, United fans are always going to feel aggrieved at Chelsea having instantly what United feel they earned. Can we end the wall of text, financial jargon posts at that? :)

Which is a fair thing to say but on the whole subject of a sugar daddy Utd got lots of financial help in the early 19th century. Money which at that time would have been much more than the money Chelsea have been given these days.

I do hope I live another 7000 years to experience this sugar daddy money. ;)

Ahh whatever... Lets just close this topic now :)

Calm down. As I have pointed out, the only reason you make so much money is because of the brand value and global fanbase you have. That is why you can spend within your means. Its simple really... A guy who makes 10 million dollars a year will never have to take a loan to get that Cartier Watch. A guy who makes 500k a year will have to.

This is made worse by the fact that the poorer guy will likely have to wait a good deal many more years and have lady luck shine on him if he ever wants to get into the sort of salary bracket the rich guy enjoys. But then he really wants that watch right now.

Manchester United are the rich guy. Chelsea are the poor guy. Ambramovich is the bank. (H)

And I never said that is the only thing they can do to close the gap. But by god it surely is the quickest and most effective way
Yes. That is my point. Club earned that money with hard work and being successful. Now some clubs can spend more that they earned. Thats the main issue. So, once again. How is it fair that some club who has no results whatsoever can spend more than some club that has real success ?

To be fair, not all the Mail's Sports writers are bad. I like Joe Bernstein for example. It's a bit like labelling all of the Guardian **** because of the rubbish that the likes of Daniel Taylor and Richard Williams spew out. Every paper has bad writers and every paper prints reams of bullshit and the Mail isn't all bad...
