The Manchester United Thread

Pretty weird move for him. Rejects Spurs cos they are not in CL, but joins Liverpool. Don't know if United have made offer, but I'd think of our CL clubs United would be best move.

Arsenal apparently couldn't get a buy in clause in loan deal and backed out because of that. No point playing player and possibly helping him find form after bad year if we cant sign him after that.

Maybe Jose convinced him? I think he knows Rodgers when BR was with Chelsea, so maybe that played some role.

Edit: Meh, AVB was also Jose's right hand man for years.

If Anderson plays like he did in preseason then at least our midfield problem will be half solved. Also Cleverley was very good against Hannover. I'm sure that's the reason why SAF is not interested in signing CM. Whether I agree with it or not is for another day, but I'm sure he feels Carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Cleverley, Giggs are more than enough.

Fletcher could possibly come back at some point in the season too. It's the only reasoning SAF can have. Anderson, when on form, is superb. He just needs to have more of those days. He's had a solid pre-season again this year, so hopefully he stars like he did last year, and avoids injury.

Don't think Madrid wanted to send him to any club in the CL. Also their is no point taking him on loan for one season and then not having the option to buy him. His ability demands that you make him one of your key players but then if he leaves after one season, you find yourself with a gaping hole in your midfield and you start from square one

No doubt I would have loved it if Chelsea got him on loan. But I can understand why no club wants to show interest unless their is a buy clause inserted

They were not enough last season and thats what i am worried/mad about.Giggs and scholes probably retire next season.Who on earth can we get of sahin quality without breaking our bank for 15 mil next season ? We should go and buy him for that 15 million now !

Its more about whether Anderson can actually remain injury-free. His ability was never in doubt. Ditto for Cleverely

He said last season he was fit but then he felt knee, but this time he doesn't have any problems. So hopefully he will have injury free season as with run of games he always played well.

Not worried about Cleverley as all his injuries are impact injuries caused by some reckless challenges or awkward falling.

I'd rather play Jones in CM. Could be a good ball-winner. Because United don't have many...maybe Carrick, but he is a deeplying playmaker IMO

When Ando and Cleverely were fit, we were superb free flowing team. Yeah we can't get player like Sahin for that price but he is not for sale though.

I doubt CL has anything to do with it for Real. There's probably clause in that he wont play against Real so he cant do any damage against them. Apparently Real were only willing to give us a first option on Sahin if he were sold after loan season, but it wasn't good enough. Bit worried about our midfield now that Rosicky's out for over 2 months, Wilshere not recovering soon and Diaby well...

Sahin's career is in a bit of a limbo at the moment. Even if he does really well at Liverpool, I don't think he can displace Modric/Alonso from the team. Plus you would expect Modric/Alonso to go on for a few more years. Particularly Modric who is still pretty young for the position he plays

Truth be told, sooner or later it seems like Sahin will have to force a move through. He is too good to sit on the Madrid bench playing second fiddle to Modric

Yeah if Fletcher can come back then it will be big big bonus. Loved how Anderson played in preseason, kept it simple and played killer balls at the right moment.

Scholes still has got one more year easily, Carrick with Anderson and Kagawa playing off striker would solve our problems to certain extent. Still we have Cleverley who has performed well in every game he has played.

We need a player to cover for Carrick though, we lack player like him.

Perhaps but then its pretty strange that Sahin refuses to go on loan to Spurs yet Mourinho lets him go to Liverpool. Wonder whats the catch. AVB was much closer to Mourinho than Rodgers. Tottenham have a better team than Liverpool. Both clubs are not in the CL. I am sure AVB's style would suit him just fine at Tottenham.

Rather confusing. Have a feeling no club wants to take him on loan for one season then lose him for the next. No club at this level probably wants to build their midfield around a loanee

He meant on loan. Alonso's contract is up in 2014 and some reports say he might leave. So Real might think they have ready made replacement coming back if they sell Alonso next summer.

But they are getting Modric...

We have Powell to come through in the next few years too. Fergie knows what he's doing, and we did after all only lose the title on GD after losing Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley from the midfield for basically the whole season.

But you never know. One wonder season then everything will fall into place for him. I think Madrid won't sell him.

Anderson breaks down a lot. He was fully ready last season start, still broke down. Questionable reliability. Ability isnt an issue, fitness, consistency and attitude were the issues.
