The Manchester United Thread

Rooney won't leave United. He'd never be the same anywhere else.

A lot of hype out of Nothing. After the contract fiasco, he got back to form and that 2nd half of season was the best he has played in 3 seasons, including the two 30 seasons he had. His overall performances were much better. He's out of shape, and a bit complacent because there is no one like him in the squad, until RVP. Gibson and Evans also went out, for some reason the press ignored that. He's out of shape, and now injured. How the press have jumped to a sale is beyond me.

I wouldnt sell him to anyone that would want him, as they would all be Euro rivals or City. Like with Ronaldo, SAF has an almost fatherly approach to him. He wont be going anywhere unless it was literally crazy money, and even then probably not.

The journalist who started this story said that Modric was going to join when he returned from the Euros, so I'm certain its utter BS.

I disagree with these stories about Rooney and think they are fabrication. However I do think Fergie has made a real statement by signing RVP. It now means he is by far no certainty to be starting, it should encourage him to get back to his prime because at the moment RVP and Kagawa are first choice in my book, Kagawa is an absolutely top class player behind the striker.

Usually something by Garth Crooks slagging off Arsenal.

Is that what he does when he isn't transforming Hazard and Pienaar to defensive midfielders for his team of the week, and making a mockery of the license fee?

While having RVP is amazing, Fergie has ignored the fact AGAIN that we need a holding midfielder and a right back. Valencia is wasted at right back, and if he keeps shuffling Phil Jones around then he will be the next John O'shea.

I want to see rid of Rafael, or at least give him a role where he doesn't need to defend, he isn't a right back suited to the Premier League anyway. His brother may toughen up though, and I could see Fabio outshining Rafael because of his loan move.

I'm glad to see Evra has some competition this year, he was dogshit last season, hopefully the new FM expresses this with a '4' in tacking.

Wouldn't believe that story for a second. Regards to his performance, it's the first couple of matches, and there's still other players who are still working back to full fitness, and are still a tad bit rusty. This'll disappear sharpish. Even though I don't support Utd, I think rooney is a tremondous player and think it would be a horrific idea to let him go. couldn't imagine the match commentary without Rooney's name being mentioned. He'll still be a Utd player though

Oh I agree, and I don't believe it. Just thought it was worth bringing up for discussion. I think buying RVP will give rooney a lot more hunger, and after the injury he should be back to his very best form.

Only reason I could see SAF ever selling Rooney is if he was certain it was in the best interest of the club and he'd got the best years out of the player (like when he sold Jaap Stam to Lazio at the age of 29 for a lot of money)

I think it was the Sun's Northen correspondent who came up with this story on the weekend, and then Rooney was on the bench in the Fulham game, and it added fuel to the fire.

15m for Dembele is a steal, such an awesome naturally gifted player, absolutely bossed our midfield and I think we have let another one slip here. Despite the common conception I think a Carrick and Dembele combination would be something to behold and could of been something brilliant.

Cant see how we let one slip. How does Dembele then combine with Cleverley, or Anderson? It's only one combination. We've done this to death to be honest.

Rafael is miles ahead of Fabio, and his defending isnt as poor as is made out either.

Dembele has more to his game than going forward and attacking, he done the nitty gritty against United as well.

Yes we've been over this, he can tackle, but he hasnt got defensive positioning, that's why Diarra plays. His game is all about bags of energy everywhere while his partner shields the back 4, that only works with Carrick and no other fit midfielder. Our central Midfielder needs to be akin to Carrick or even better Hargreaves/Fletcher. Supreme defensively, but also mobile with a decent eye for a pass. More Tiote than Dembele.

Fabio was always said to be more the more gifted of the two. He made the Brazil U-20 squad first, and eventually captained the side.

That said since their arrival in Manchester, the lack of competition at right back (G-Nev aside) has allowed Rafael to develop faster. A year on loan will do wonders for Fabio, but not if he's part of a shoddy back four at QPR thats shipping goals every week. Here's hoping they bring in Dawson and Carvalho.

Been held back by injuries and Evra. Big year ahead of him. Agree about Dawson and Carvalho, especially if they have Julio Cesar organising from between the sticks.
