The Manchester United Thread

There's few option out there for our midfield crisis, and all of them would cost 15-25 million. Obvious ones are Bender brothers ( tho I prefer Dortmund Bender - Sven I think ?) and Fellaini. But there's one Brazilian that got my attention. His name is Romulo. Yep, wonderkid from FM11. He was so good for Vasco, and he was amazing during Olympic games for Brazil. Only problem is - he signed for Spartak Moscow this summer, so yea..
Anyway:
Romulo Statistics

Jones could be retrained to be that type of player.. but we do need a good ball winner/playmaker!

Yann M'Vila would be a great addition to the squad!

Yeah, M'Vila would have been great addition. We need someone who can win tackles and offer physical presence.

If Fletcher is back to near his best then the problem will be solved to an extent. After watching Jones against Villa and QPR I thought he will become very good ball winning midfielder, but after few more games I'm not sure. Maybe he need games, thing is when pressed he can't do much in the tight space.

He isn't mentioned because at no point he was up for sale. There are many midfielders who will improve us, but it's not worthy of a discussion aslong as they are not for sale.

You can argue with any stats you want, Dembele would have improved us easily.

Messi would improve Chelsea's squad but is he the type of Player we need? Nope .... Similar story with Dembele and United

agreed, that would come with age and experience though!

Fletcher was great against Newcastle as the DM/anchorman! Jones could do that too!

I have this funny suspicion and have had for a while that United are going to get Cabaye in the next season or two..

not sure what this whole Dembele thing is, however, I feel he is not good enough for United! I would prefer to have Gaitan or Marvin Martin etc...

Dembele was not prolific at Fulham and we already have Kagawa playing in a similar role!

WE NEED A DEFENSIVE/PLAYMAKING MIDFIELDER LIKE Joao Moutinho!

Tbh, Jones offers aggression in midfield, but that's it . Poor positioning and he's very limited on the ball.

Sigh. Why would anyone say No to Messi? Leaving out that, terrible analogy as Messi was not available and Dembele was and was better CM than almost all the CMs we have.

Then why would you prefer Gaitan?

Moutinho?! PAH! He's awful. He's so bad that you should never even consider an offer and let some poor saps, like say Chelsea, take him.

Well done for missing the point of my post by a country mile

It was a stupid analogy really, but Dembele isn't the type we need when we already have a similar player in Anderson - who I rate highly by the way. We will probably need the creative deep midfielder when Scholes leaves, but right now we need a defensive screen for the big games.

 Anderson too! always have!

Fletchie will be back and good to go soon and I feel will play a much more deeper, defensive role like against Newcastle!

In Jan or June we will look for a Scholes replacement no doubt! I still feel (hope) that Fergie has faith in Anderson to take over this role, he just needs to work on his right foot and his actual passing game.. sometimes he gives away possession too easily for me!

otherwise we will have to spend big and get someone for the foreseeable future..

Anderson could be an absolute world beater, he just needs to work hard on his concentration and passing, and probably finishing too, and hopefully have an injury free campaign. He could be as big for United as Yaya is for City, he has that ability to drive from deep and create from nothing. I don't think he has many seasons left to prove his worth though.

I will explain it better when I get a chance to go on my computer and not iPhone...

People can go on about Sandro but he was not available. So not sure why they are discussing about him. We missed player who was available and who could have improved us.

Once again you utterly miss the point. We were never talkihg about buying just anyone, we are talking about finding the right kind of player, and how Sandro demonstrated that, and how he showed that a player of that type is exactly what United need and have missed, or did you not even bother to read the comments? . But you keep going on about Dembele. Frankly everyone else is bored of discussing it.

Well done, you miss the point. I never said buy Sandro, i said Sandro was that kind of player, learn to read. As i have said before there is a big difference between a player that improves us and the right player. There are plenly of players who could improve us, but that is neither here or there and certainly not what i was talking about. I'm talking about the kind of player we lack

There was no point to miss except analyzing the player that was not for sale. Yes it's boring discussion but still Dembele is better than any of our CMs and for 15Million it was easy decision. We could have signed one for defensive minded player too, never said Dembele is the answer to all our midfield problems, all I have said is he would have improved our midfield, which is fact.

I can read, thanks. It's about time you try to do it too.

And his positioning, and marking.

We have had so many types of midfield players. But they have all had one thing in common. Positioning. Our CMs always started from a relatively deep position, a cross between CM/DM. and they either operated, or pushed from there; as anchormen, (****, May) driving box to box enforcers (Keane) Creative attacking mids linking play ( Early to Prime Scholes), Combative harrassing linkmen (Hargreaves, Fletcher) or deep lying playmakers (Carrick, later Scholes).

All of them had immense positioning skills. The fact that Scholes was arguably the weakest here in that sense shows how vital that is. Anderson would have to approach that kind of level.
