The Manchester United Thread

I personally think jones was class today, but agree our midfield is bit weak will have to see what the summer brings?

Jones did well don't get me wrong, but I would much rather have him as a Centre Back and have a midfielder brought in.

Ref and linesman both had perfect view of the penalty. Really glad all the officials love us and give us every decision.

Tottenham haven't had a single penalty all season. Please spare us your woes. ^^)

Onto the game, a deserved equaliser and created by our only real threat throughout the game; Lennon. On the balance of play some might argue we deserved more, but until we sign a top class striker, we're always going to fall short in that regard.

I think Fergie gambled on Fletcher's fitness last summer and I really hope he'll bring in a combative midfielder next season. We seem to miss a dynamic centre mid. Anyway, for some reason I feel we're one player short.

I feel 2 or 3 with how some players have performed this season and our CM.

We have been one key player short in midfield for a long time, probably 2 - 3 seasons and this issue has not been addressed.

If we lose the title again it will only be the fault of not solving this problem.

If Ferguson doesn't get charged for his comments yesterday then I'm sorry but the FA truly kiss' Fergies ***.

He said "It was a clear penalty but we were never going to get that, he gave them everything"

The Rule book states: "media comments which questioned the integrity of the match referee and/or match
officials in general and/or implied that the match referee and/or match
officials in general are motivated by bias and/or brought the game into
disrepute"

So with that said, Allardyce got charged for he's so how on earth is Fergie's comments different?

Yes, they kiss his *** so much that he is the most charged manager in the league...

Bit different from what Allardyce said, since he actually said refs cheat to help United...

Lets ignore the fact that Mancini had a pop about Kevin Friends weight, and Redknapp said at the ref needed to go to specsavers, but neither were charged...

Ok, fair enough he's comments may be different to Allardyce's but surely he's comments yesterday are in breach of what the rule book says.

How is saying "It was a penalty but we were never going to get that, he gave them everything" not in breach of it?

The FA are a joke, Redknapp should have been charged, so should Mancini but in my opinion, Ferguson's comments were no different to what Allardyce got charged for.

I dont think many United fans would have much complaint if he did get charged, but I can see why he wouldnt in light of recent manager comments. Frankly all 4 should have been charged. If was a bad decision, but all 4 got needlessly personal imo and its ridiculous that managers continue to be allowed to attack officials this way.

Lol just reading in one of papers at work hansen saying fergie should get rid of de gea and has had his last chance, will cost us the league WTF more de gea bashing im sure some people know nothing about football or did he even see how many saves he made yesterday!

That was atrocious article. Read it and it was one of the worst article ever just below the article about Fergie in 2006.

This is why the FA need to stamp their authority and say that they won't allow it. They let managers get away with so much, yet charge managers for so little. It's not right and their inconsistancy on dealing with managers, players, teams etc, is beyond a joke. They might aswell just say "We will take action whenever we can be bothered"because that is what it's like.

Hansen is an idiot.

They deserved get three points – but the reason they did not is because of the goalkeeper, and its something United have got to deal with or it could end up costing them.

This was just clueless, if not for De Gea we would have got fat 0 points.

The one by Rob Smyth? Greatest article ever.

Yes. In fact 2 gems from him.

Shredding his legacy at every turn | Football | guardian.co.uk

and

Sir Alex Ferguson powerless to stop Manchester United empire crumbling | Rob Smyth | Football | The Observer

run by a manager who shreds his legacy at every turn; almost exclusively represented by the inadequate (Darren Fletcher and Kieran Richardson) and the odious (Rio Ferdinand); unable to close a deal for West Brom's reserve keeper, never mind the new Roy Keane. The signing of Michael Carrick, a Pirlo when a Gattuso was needed, is a band aid for a bullet wound, and a ludicrously expensive one at that.

United have made offers for dozens of players - nobody wants to go near them. And the one person who surely would, Damien Duff, was allowed to slip into the arms of Newcastle for less than United paid for Patrice Evra. You couldn't make it up. You don't have to.

United finished second last season, but that as much about the deficiency of the Premiership as their own quality. Arsenal will surely not have a four-month blind spot this season, while all evidence suggests that Liverpool's gradient will continue on its upward trajectory. With Tottenham getting stronger, even with the loss of Carrick, it is conceivable that, if they start slowly and get significant injuries, United could finish fifth; in today's environment, that would be disastrous.

The season where we wiped floor with every team in the league and had 8 players in PFA team of the year.

Everywhere, principles are being sacrificed. In years gone by Ferdinand - who for all his irrefutable ability is the type of character whose presence in a United shirt symbolises much of what has gone wrong with the club - would've been out the door faster than Paul Ince could say 'big-time Charlie', but now Ferguson can't afford to lose his only world-class defende

And the thing is, it is only going to get worse: Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have all made shrewd, cheap signings and are going in one direction. United are going the other way: they are hugely dependent on Ferdinand and Rooney

That was fantastic read..
