The Manchester United Thread

Villa didn't even play that badly today, United were just on another planet from what I saw.

Average position diagrams are amusing. United played basically a 4-1-1-3-1 with Rooney doing whatever the **** he wanted. He did no defensive work, but he didn't need to. Might be an interesting idea, actually, playing Rooney deep against sides United can just destroy at leisure.

4-2-3-1 has had it's day, time for the new polo formation to take over.

Villa were fixated with RVP too, so Rooney just had acres of space, which made it worse. Villa were ok. United just decided that they wanted to destroy them. Villa did very well to rally after the break, rather than implode.

Congratulations for your Premier League title, Red Devils. Such a shame you got utterly robbed at UCL...

agreed! RVP was great! United eventually, for the 1st time this season hit 5th gear in the first half!

Just coming on here to say congrats to Utd on their 20th title. I will say you were the best of a bad bunch but will finish off by saying at the start of the season when you signed RVP i said to my cousin (utd fan) if you keep him fit you will be league champions come the end of the season. I just hope my club can have some stability (couldn't say it with a straight face) next season and give you a proper challenge.

If City keep Mancini, I'd argue you're more likely to give United a challenge than them.

lol at your attempt to initiate debates :P love it!

I honestly thought City were going to win the title for a few years, I thought (before we got RVP) we were going to come 2nd or 3rd!

I do agree with you Jacko, we were the best out of a bad bunch, we barely got out of 3rd gear the entire season! only last night did we play to our potential for the 1st 45 minutes!

I think i'd agree with that too, i think City need a change but i think him winning the FA cup will keep him his job.

Who does everyone want in the summer?

Who does everyone think we'll get in the summer?

I think Garay seems to be nailed on from Benfica, after that I have no idea. Something tells me Smalling may go out on loan though. Also, Fergie has said that Fabio will come back next year and be apart of the United squad, so RVP to wear #9 next year?

Garay, nah don't want him mate, Real reject!

Zouma (Fergie is following him)
Moutinho/Vidal

someone who can really control the game and create chances..

Falcao if Rooney does go!

Consider the quality of player Real are casting off - this year alone its been Canales, Gago, Sahin, Diarra and Granero - and it's hardly an insult. Garay's a solid player and he'd be a decent addition, but I'm not entirely sure United need him.

Moutinho would be perfect for United, and a new winger could be useful.

Moutinho and a replacement for Nani.

Cavani to PSG, which almost certainly means Rooney is staying.

It would so non-sensical to let Rooney go at any point. He is Man Utd through and through-with everything he does on the pitch. Even when things go belly up he never gives up. Just works himself into the ground-same on the international scene. Yes he's had a few "incidents"-though how many were incredibly overhyped. I don't want him to ever leave the PL.

Tbh never understood that argument. Most of the times when United win this phrase is thrown around too easily.

Not the best of bad bunch, we were better than some very good teams like City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

No one thing wont be signing gotze! Would like to see wanyama/vidal/strootman one of these to bolster midfield after that one of rodriguez/quintero/lemala/di maria for the wing then hallovic/zouma for future.:)

I think the rest were not at a level that they could be. Take that with Chelsea's off the field problems......again. Utd significantly strengthened in the summer but City didn't. I think its also fair to say Utd have had less valuable injuries than City this season which has helped Utd. Utd are deservedly champions don't get me wrong, its not just thrown around because its Utd, its thrown around because there is an air of truth about it. Doesn't make your title win any less significant or less of value.

Hard to admit but second half of the season United were quite clearly the best team out there. First half they were dire defensively which was mostly down to injuries but still, they do what they do best and win when they really look like they're not going to.

Would hate to be the guy who replaces Fergie when he does eventually leave (I'd give him another few seasons) one **** of a job to have to take over.

Everyone's had a bit of a **** season to be fair. Apart from ******* Everton.

Less valuable? We lost our entire defence. Repeatedly. We've been even better than last year. It's repeated, but its still bullshit.
