The Manchester United Thread

Your not the only one mate, your not the only one

Lol, Moyes confirmed that Rooney is injured and is out for 2-3 weeks which is some sort of good news as first it was reported it's 1 month out.

Always love these conspiracy theories. Player who is linked with other club is out injured? Yeah let's think he is faking it. Makes sense.

Have we actually agreed a deal (is this a personal contract deal? Or a deal has been agreed with Barca and know we need to complete personal terms?)? Has it been confirmed by United or is it just what majority of media outlets are saying?

On a seperate note, : Everton are bracing themselves for a £40million double bid from United forMarouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines. According to the gossip page from the Man U website. Personally hope this is just that, gossip. I would hate it if we spent 40million on those two. I mean Fellaini is a good player, but there are way better targets out there both younger and cheaper with more potential. And Baines is fantastic but we have Evra and Baines' age is a problem IMO.

We offered a contract to his dad/agent, who was very happy with it, and that has been agreed. In terms of Barca we dont need to agree because they are not going to fight the release clause. Long story short, it is all up to Thiago. He simply has to choose.

And the recent quotes doing rounds on twitter is.
Guardiola: "I have talked with Rummenigge (chairman) and Sammer (sports director) about Thiago. There's no news yet, we'll see."

Hopefully Sammer and Rummenigge just rejects his request but since this is the first player he has asked for (or second has he wanted Neymar) they might go on to sign him even though they are overloaded in that position.

Baines is superior to Evra to be honest, and is level with Cole on ability etc (though his crossing is obviously better)

Please tell me we get Thiago. I don't want to have to wait a year to buy him on Football Manager 2014 :'(

Baines is better than Cole. It's losing Evra's leadership that concerns me in truth.

Thing is honestly don't see Leighton joing Moyes anytime soon. He's already really looking forward to working with Martinez and a new playing philosophy and is committed to staying at the club.

It's now or never in truth. He is 28 now.

Truth is, Baines is worth more to Everton than United should really be paying for him, and he's not the type to go mental and throw a strop if he doesn't get a move. Don't see it materialising, but I don't rule it out if the two sides can come to an agreement.

Though don't forget the World Cup is coming up fast. He'll want to show his stuff to Hodgson, and if he went to United where you already have Evra and Buttner. There will be a **** of a lot of competition so may not be guaranteed a spot. Just as the same thing would happen if he theoretically went to Chelsea-with Cole there starting place is not guaranteed due to competition. And not to mention he still has many years left in the top flight aswell. So if he had a blinding season it would attract a lot more attention from a vast array of clubs want his services. And of course he's revered by the Everton fans. He's an icon, Martinez said it himself. And with his style of football Leighton will just excel even further. One more season won't hurt him to be honest.

This is a situation where the ball is now in our court and for once can call the shots now.

If he comes to United, it means Evra is moving on. He is miles ahead of Buttner and Fabio, so no worries there.

He will either sign a new contract, or end up leaving imo.

Possible I guess yeah. I think if we have a really poor season and finish outisde the top 6 he may decide to move on.

Never thought I'd be using the words "really poor season" and "outside top 6" in the same sentence lol

I heard that Bayern NEVER put release clauses on their players, so that might come into play with Thiago demanding one.

Even we don't put release clauses but might put one if Thiago is **** bent on having the release clause.

Yeah that one might work in out favor, Bayern are very ruthless in the market but usually they don't get bent by players. They pay money, offer better contract but will never put clauses that might make them vulnerable.

I don't think it is a matter of replacing Fletcher, it's a matter of getting a new, top quality MC, which we would need even if Fletcher was fit to play. After Carrick, Fletcher is our best midfielder. We need to be replacing the likes of Anderson. Fletcher isn't even injury prone, he has just been seriously ill. Hopefully when he comes back he will be back to his best.

I don't think he will ever be back to his best, which concerns me and worries me. We need to either: a)sign a #6 who is willing to put in a thorough shift in front of our back four and assertive in 50/50s, but also has a great pass on him and aerial ability. or b) Promote Phil Jones/Ryan Tunnicliffe into the midfield and allow him to grow into the role.

I've never felt as though our defence is sufficiently protected when Carrick is the only one under a defensive mindset. And we certainly don't seem to be adopting the fluid 4-2-3-1 that every top team is dipping into nowadays- so I'd rather we steady the rearguard and built our success on a mean defence again. Do that and sign a left-footed Valencia-esque winger with the mobility and discipline to track back and the skill to whip in a fantastic cross and we are sorted.

If we promoted Jones then we could also get a quality replacement for Ferdinand. Since I know Thorpe may never get the chance.

Good to see Januzaj starting. Shown some lovely touches so far.

No.

Januzaj looking sharp. If he chooses Belgium they will have yet another amazing youngster. Ando is fatter then ever XD Can't wait to see Zaha and Powell in second half.

Perhaps, but if they do cave and give him one it'll be ridiculous. Something like 140 mil or of that ilk.
