Perhaps, but if they do cave and give him one it'll be ridiculous. Something like 140 mil or of that ilk.
He wants a lack of playing time get out though.

And Thiago would be stupid to accept that. He wants realistic release clause which he even demanded Barca, otherwise Barca would have done the same thing.
Most good Spanish players have ridiculous release clauses. Even Thiago's was massive, it's just Barca were foolish enough to not play him enough that it stayed that high.
German clubs don't do release clauses in the same way Spanish ones do. If Bayern give him one it'll be exorbitant, and he'll have to accept it. If he 'demands' a release clause so much then he has to be prepared to have a huge one.
Well Moyes has mentioned about transfers again in an article on Sky Sports and he has addressed that the midfield is short. So that gives me hope that something will be happening!
Call me overly optimistic, but still hopeful on Thiago. Had weeks of the catalan papers saying it's inevitable, don't see why it should be forgotten about just because some small spanish radio station and Sky Italia who have all the journalistic integrity of Piers Morgan say Bayern. It's been days now since it was 'confirmed' he was going to Bayern, still nothing from them.
"Why would we not communicate it if something was signed? No, of course that is not the case,"
But Thiagos clause was very different and I don't think many players have this sort of clause. There were many reports that Thiago wants similar clause (almost exact one) in United deal which was holding up the deal. He didn't want to take chance at United with no midfielders, so I dont think he will take risk at Bayern who have arguably the best midfield.
If Thiago just accepts massive release clause then Barca would have done it long back, he needs a realistic target and that was one of the issue that took long enough to sort out according to Journos.
Thiago DID accept a huge release clause and Barca DID do it a while back, under Pep. It was originally £77 million. It's just that in between Barca's mishandling of everything - though I'm sure that was partly due to Tito's illness - the fine print came into play. I don't think Thiago was actually expecting the release clause to be dropped due to his contract at all.
Either way, there's something fishy about this whole business. Bayern are clearly in the driving seat, but the lack of news is somewhat telling.
Thiago's clause hasn't been lowered from 90M to 18M, it's the other way around. It is 18M, and it could become 90M.
Clause was if he doesn't play certain % of games (mins) then the clause will be 18Million till July 31st, and from Aug 1st it's 90 Million Euro. It was signed when Pep was the manager and that season he played many games, but last season he didn't play that many games so the clause is activated.
I'm not sure Bayern would bend over to accept these kind of clauses. It's not about the only exit clause, it's the clause about wanting X% of mins otherwise you can leave for Y price.
All of this makes me wonder exactly why Thiago thinks leaving Barca is a good idea. At Bayern they have the best squad in the entire world, but he won't get as much gametime as a result and he might not get the clauses he wants. At United, he'll get guaranteed game time, but United's squad isn't quite good enough to be on a par with Bayern or Barca yet. At Barca, he'll have a squad that's one of the best in the world, and people willing to bend over backwards for him to stay.
Frankly Barca is his best bet, but I get the feeling he (and particularly his dad) are annoyed at Barcelona's spectacularly bad handling of this. Rosell like a fool, initially dismissed his fears, as if no one could dare leave the mighty Barca. Only Mazinho is seriously ballsy. So now Thiago (by which I mean everyone on his side, like his dad etc) have now manouvered themselves into a position where they can dictate to United, Barca and Bayern
It's a smart move and a bold strategy. He's lucky he's rated so highly, else most teams wouldn't deal with this kind of contractual skulduggery.

Bayern confirmed it.
So all this "I want more game time" was just probably something he done to get more money. He leaves Barcelona to join one of the best teams midfield departments...... well done son.
