His father also said he wants to stay for now and sign a new contract IIRC. Dortmund certainly won't sell. They lost gotze and won't stand to lose another key player hence the standoff with lewa

That's a possibility indeed, but the Lewa case is unusual. I mean Dortmund usually always sell for a price. But Herrera would be a good signing, anyone to slightly improve midfield would be a bonus.

Gundogan is less realistic than cesc was.

What? N.O.

Fabregas has a significant contract remaining, his boyhood club, played for a direct rival (dunno whether that counts for anything these days, as he was captain you'd like to maybe think so, yes hello RVP).

Gundogan.. Dortmund are known to sell players.... they are selling their other stars/losing them slowly. His father admitted to moving to either England/Spain in the future. His contract is running down. That's too extreme to say it's less realistic than Fabregas.

To be fair, neither of them are particularly in the realm of 'realistic' anyway, so it's rather moot.

The only reason I can think of why Herrera isn't realistic is because Woody won't pay the price to acquire him. I'd say he could be got if we wanted him enough. But I don't think we do want him enough if it means paying a lot of moolah.

Fabregas was also not playing in a world cup year and made noises to United to encourage them somewhat. Gundogan has said he wants a new contract. If Dortmund were as much as a selling club as you make out, Lewandowski would be gone now rather than for nowt next year.

Pretty sure he meant Gundogan.

I think we both know the Lewandowski situation is quite unique, meaning if he wanted to leave and go to another club apart from Bayern he would be gone already. He's only remaining there because Dortmund want to delay as much as possible the time for him to join Bayern. Also they probably couldn't get away with selling two of their stars to Bayern in one summer.

Either way, he's not a realistic target.

Herrera, Fellaini and possibly Baines if it happens would be a reasonable summer.

Reasonable? Considering the state we're in at the moment with just over 3/4 days remaining, I'd be dancing all the way to work. (As a post-man that would be quite embarassing though).

What time is Moyes press conference?

Edit: Nevermind it's at 2.

Bilbao confirm the Herrera bid. Say he'll leave for 36m euros only.

Herrera bid confirmed and rejected by Bilbao. The offer was around 30m euros but they will only sell if the release clause is met, which is 36 or 38m euros.

If our offer was 30m euros... it's only 6m euro more to get the player. So we should surely just get him.

Beaten me to it.. **** you.... you reckon this one will go through then? It's only 6m more.

Pretty daft to not pay the extra 6m if we want him. Whoever we go for at this stage is going to be overpriced.

people keep talking about Spanish VAT tax, which apparently adds more on?

Remember hearing something about that with Thiago but can't remember. There's an article somewhere.

Only problem I have with what kind of midfielder do we define him as? I mean we obviously wanted a midfielder with some goals and attacking prowess. (Such as Fabregas).

But if we get Herrera and Fellaini, they both don't offer that. So we're still heavy relying on the forwards to provide a lot of goals.

Well if Rooney plays like he did against Chelsea, and Welbeck continues to score, we shouldn't have a problem with scoring goals.

Hmm, I am just not sure whether getting both Herrera and Fellaini is logical. Especially considering the outlay is going to be quite reasonable.

By the way quite a few reports saying we have made a 12m bid for De Rossi, which got rejected.
