The Manchester United Thread

Too say Fellaini is an average player is absolutely ridiculous. He's been Everton's best player next to Baines for the past couple of seasons and he is one of Belgium's brightest talents and stands out every single season as a player who has extremely good ability. Fellaini is his own right is one of the best players in the Premier League in his position and I stand by that

If Moyes rated him that highly, why was he not the first player in the door?

The matter of the fact is Moyes hasn't got ANYONE through the door, it's not like he's accumulated all these other players and not bothered with Fellaini. He hasn't got anyone and now he is set to get Herrera and Fellaini. Moyes has taken forever to even make his first move this window.

Are you also forgetting the earlier bids made for Fellaini and Baines that were rejected? Moyes tried getting them both cheap for £28M, which was ridiculous because Everton wouldn't probably settle for any less than that for Fellaini on his own. He's now having to act and make bigger bids because he has simply ran out of time.

That doesn't make it a panic buy it just means Moyes has been a bit of a twit in this window but atleast he is making ground on two quality midfielders than United need.

When I see the "Fellaini is average" posts I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Or cry with laughter

If he wanted him he would have met the release clause in his contract earlier in the transfer window whilst it was active. He now has to spend more than he would have to land him. Clearly Moyes isn't that fussed about him and the fact that he now has to settle. If not a panic buy then what is it?

Probably not because Moyes has had his eye on a number of players this window. To name a few, Thiago, Fabregas, and quite a few other midfielders.

To also say that 'Moyes isn't fussed about him' is ludicrous aswell lol. This is the man who paid £15M at Everton for him when Fellaini was unproven to a certain extent and unheard of, back then that was a **** load of cash for Everton to splash on one player. Do you really think he would be bothered paying double that for him now when he is proven and he has got the financial backing of a club like United?

Not to mention the fact Fellaini was Everton's top goal scorer last season with 12 goals from midfield, along with adding his physical presence to the side. Admittedly he will be in a different role at United, not the AM he was used to be at Everton.

Because the team was built round him and was perfect for him, at United it will not be the same.

Exactly he has the financial backing of the club which is estimated at around 70m to spend. As such if he wanted him he could have brought him in. The fact that he didn't can only suggest to me that he was not high up on his list of transfers and he is now settling.

Like I just said, he won't be in the same role as United.. You say the team was built round him, I agree it won't be at United, but certainly the style of football is still going to be what he is used to, considering the manager he has spent the past, what, 3-4 seasons working under is now at United? lol

He has been interested in Fellaini the whole summer.

But it won't be exactly the same, and you said it yourself he will not be in the same role, he will be dropped deeper and given a more disciplined role. Imo I think it is a bad move in the market and we could have signed better players rather than settling for second best.

Give us some realistic targets then?

A manager has always got certain targets. He wanted to get a creative player first what is the big issue and anyone telling me that he is no good well you will eat your words at the end of the season.I am more concerned about harerra .Is he actually gonna change our timid style in europe ???

You know I've got a feeling this Herrera deal isn't going to go through on time.

Footballers have to adapt, no player plays the same role throughout his career. And you probably could have gone for a better player but that is down to Moyes, Fellaini is still a class player and I really am surprised you don't think so because so many United fans and neutrals think it is a good move

Then why not buy out his clause?!
You're asking me a question I simply can't answer because I'm not David Moyes lol, only thing I can think of is back then he had other targets in the front of his mind, most likely Fabregas, who would of been a better buy than Herrera or Fellaini, which is understandable.

Im sorry but this is not FM13 or **** where you build for the future interminently. This is MAN UTD where we should DEMAND success every year esp in Europe. We therefore need READY MADE players who will come in and deliver sharpish.

We have always built for the future, It's who we are as a club and why it has made us so successful. So the class of 92 with the likes of ****, P.Neville & G. Neville, Giggs, Becks, Scholes were built for the future and they were the back bone of united for 15 years. Now, with an average age of 26, with the likes of Rafeal or Zaha, Welbeck, Cleverly, De Gea, Fabio, Smalling to name but a few.
The only players we have bought in the last 6 years at the peak of their age and skill is RVP and Berbatov. United have always looked to the future when we make signings, always. I'm not saying to not bring in a big name, I'm saying in a few years from now do we want to be going for years W/O a midfielder like we have for the past 5 years.

Jesus Christ, you are taking what I'm saying wrong, I know it's not a game. Anyway I don't see why you are arguing about this as we won't be getting De Rossi, the biggest name we will get this market is Fellaini. I want De Rossi, I want Fellaini and I want Herrera, I have no idea why you have taken offence to me saying we should look for the future as well as improving now. And stop capitalizing words please, I can read just fine without that.

You know what the sad thing is? Not the fact he's going to be leaving Goodison-it's the fact he's going to a club where (potentially) a lot of Utd fans don't want him there. Sad. Really is.

I am generally shocked so many fans are somewhat against it lol, Fellaini is the exact sort of player United could do with in midfield
