The Manchester United Thread

any 1 see that ozil was waiting for man u to make a bid thats why it was so late when he went to the gunners why we did not bid is just dumb

Yeh, many spanish journalists said the same, we didn't need him as good a player as he is, so why waste £42m?

And other journalist also say that A) Real rejected your late bid B) Real accepted yours and PSG's bid and then rejected both contract offers.

Comparing him to over-rated players and the under rated Fellaini.

I mean why compare player who wasn't even our main midfielder last season with players who were the main midfielders for their teams. Better put Arteta's stats in there.

Wilshere still made a significant amount of appearances last season.... it's not to say look at us we've got someone better. It's just pointing to the real facts/stats Fellaini offered Everton in a weaker team than Wilshere/Toure respectively.

Yeah. I just dont think it's really fair to compare player who's just came from long term injury to players who have been playing consistently the whole time.

Because this way it makes it look like they were trying for Fabregas/ Modric/ Herrera etc. when all along Fellaini was the number 1 target. (; It was all an elaborate and incredibly boring smokescreen.
Surely not even you are slow enough to believe that. Especially since it er, doesn't work as a smokescreen.

If you were coming up with this kind of logic, no wonder you were rightly flamed.

Many journalist said Ozil and his agent delayed the deal hoping ManUtd will make an offer but we did't.

I have left this in the Arsenal thread too but is it just me that thinks the Fellaini-Ozil deals would have been better suited the other way around?

Nope. It's fine as it is. We need Fellaini as we have Rooney, Kagawa to play #10 role.

I think you don't know that rejected bids are positive PR spin for one of the biggest club in the world. *facepalm*.

The only way it can work for spin is this:

July 1 Moyes takes over

July 2 Fellaini arrives.

Moyes says: " I have achieved one of my targets, now we can go for any player we want"

Of course, this only works if you assume United wanted only one Central Mid... oh wait they wanted 2!

Graham Hunter was the one who started it or Balaque if I remember right. Many conflicting reports and we can't be sure of the truth unless Özil or his father say what happened.

Also I think SAF would've tried to sign Özil no matter who current Utd player would suffer for it.

Yeah. It's such a retarded thing to think bids for Fabregas and others are smokescreen when no clubs wants to make news for failed bids, especially club as big as ManUtd.

Not sure what choice Fellaini was but I'm sure he is the only DM we were linked with. Rest all were creative CMs and one destroyer in Khedira for whom we made bid when only 2 hrs was left in the window.

IMO we needed 2 CMs, 1 Fellaini type destroyer and 1 creative CM. We got 1 and failed to sign other.

Except Ozil will always say Arsenal was his preferred destination as he has signed for Arsenal. He was offered to ManUtd and City, both turned him down (which was big mistake IMO), so I don't think we made any more late bids at all. If so, it would have been in news as every single bid we made has been leaked to the media.

It was in the independent and telegrapgh 2 weeks ago.

But yes Ferguson would have taken the risk.

Was Ozil turned down? I figured he choose Arsenal for guaranteed first team football before World Cup.

That is so strange. And I agree, Ferguson would have gone balls deep on this. With Rooney acting like whiney little *****, you could just offload him in January.

There was story going earlier in summer that Özil was offered to several clubs and now Graham Hunter said in Revista La Liga that on deadline day he was waiting for Utd to come in for him. Personally I trust Graham Hunter as much as Tancredi Palmeri.
