The Manchester United Thread

Digressing from the Ryan Shawcross v. Jonny Evans/Phil Jones discussion, it's nice to see Fellaini benefit from the confidence Van Gaal has shown in him. He hasn't complicated things, just gone and done what he was brought in for from the Moyesian reign. He has become an efficient player. I'm happy for him.

And when Ander Herrera comes back from injury, we will have a physically strong and robust central midfield; Daley Blind sitting in front of the defence, whilst (assuming) Herrera partners Fellaini just ahead of him. Or even Rooney instead of Herrera in occasion.

Looking forward to Saturday's clash vs. Crystal Palace. With or without Jédinak vs. Fellaini.

Problem is Di Maria's best performances were from the midfield 3, pushing him to winger means we will see an inconsistent winger who is very hit and miss.

Also shows how well Fellaini has done when many are not comfortable to see Fellaini on bench if Herrera comes back. So Herrera, Blind, Di Maria, Fellaini midfield? That would be exciting with Herrera as #10 as he plays amazing defense splitting passes. He can swap with Fellaini though out the game like wingers do.

Btw Jedinak is suspended

Don't know how true my mate in office said he read it at work.

Perez 20m
Strootman 32m
Kongolo 7m

I don't know if mitten posted that but if he did I would trust that.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are talking signing Marco Reus, Julian Draxler, Mats Hummels and my beloved club are aiming for......Ryan Shawcross?

You forgot MCFC looking at Reus too. :)

Ah yeah true, Jédinak is suspended. Big boost for us.

Di María can clearly do better on the wings, but his performances out wide have been perplexing. He can clearly play there, he's versatile and creative enough. May just need a little more support? Or might even be too early to judge, we'll see with a few more games, or he might return to the middle.

As for the midfield, it'll probably play itself out, who stays fit, in form (etc). I prefer Blind, Herrera, Di María overall but Fellaini is making a good fist of the opportunities he's been given.

Also - its become apparent with Mata's below par performances that we ve become overreliant on ADM and when he has an off day (such as the Chelski match) that can be a problem. I think we need to address that in Summer (perhaps by buying Reus - tho I really like GRIEZMANN).

I don't reckon we got a chance with either of them. We need to sort out CM/DEF next.

I know - esp the 2nd sentence. But we need to be addressing that sometime next year and summer seemed reasonable. We cant be having Valencia and Young as filler ...

Flog Young. Bring back Zaha and Nani as auxiliary wide men whilst some width is added. Who, though, I'm unsure.

Yeah he is good playing as winger too but his best performances were as playing in midfield 3. Shaw and Di Maria don't play as a team on the left wing IMO like how Nani and Ronaldo used Evra or Valencia used Rafael.

Blind, Herrera, Di Maria was overrun easily because of lack of physical presence, so it's a good headache to have for manager as he can drop any midfielder and still feel our midfield is good enough. How things have changed in the midfield dept.

There'll be way too many teams in the hunt for Reus next season, so that is rather doubtful. Also, Griezmann just moved to Atleti, no way they'll be selling him next season unless the offer is ridiculous. Depay sounds more realistic, actually. I'm hoping that Mata's bad form is only temporary, and that he'll get back to his best. But we've also got Rooney with his energy as a direct replacement for Mata, so I'm not too worried atm.

Couple rumours going round Falcao,Rafa,Evans all available for Palace. And Jamie Jackson running LVG will only sign in Jan if his key targets are available.

Zaha is not exactly setting the world alight at Palace. And Nani cant/wont track back and will mainly go for the hollywood option. We need better.

Jamie Jackson was clueless last summer, how he suddenly knows anything now about January is rather peculiar. But it's an easy thing to guess anyway because I can't see much happening in January, I'd go for Shawcross though if nothing else.

Jan is always a horrible time. I think he will see how we look end of december before doing anything. I think he will do so if the situation forces him, or if something arises

I have a cheeky feeling Wilson will be world beater if he stays fit.

I'd be genuinely Impressed with Van Gaal if this turns out true. I knew he has well deserved reputation of a ruthless *******, but holy ****, benching a guy who captained his NT team just few months ago, and for a youngster?
