The Manchester United Thread

Few Rumours going round De Gea going to sign new 140k 5yr contract in the coming weeks, making him the highest paid GK in world football.

Real Madrid will come calling, surely?
Really cant see it he will sign. And Woody said this Summer we don't want to see best players going to Madrid/Spain. De Gea has said in numerous interviews he loves it he and playing for Utd. Plus he said at Atletico Madrid he would never sign for Real. Just a matter of times before he signs that new contract :)

Well it's them or barca especially for spanish and south american players, footballers say alot of things and should always be taken with a pinch of salt. Obviously i hope he stays for the next 10 years but i'm realistic and understand it's a business and it might not happen.

I just don't buy all his coz hes Spanish he automatically wants to play in Spain. At the end of the day he seems very happy here and a down to earth kid of guy, and you can see in his performances and reaction he plays with passion for our club! All this is just paper bollocks imo, coming about his recent form and us coming off a bad season. Madrid have just invested in a top keeper after the WC and Casillas has said he wants to retire at Madrid. And we are one of the only clubs that can match Madrids financial clout. At the end of the day im very confident he will sign before the new year, most probs a 3yr extension worth about 39.6m making him the highest paid GK.

Kristof Terreur @HLNinEngeland Follow Man United are chasing Belgian brothers Indy (almost 16y) and Seppe Boonen. They were already on trial at Cartington, #MUFC

I see the BBC and few other sites/sources saying today Utd are relaxed about De Geas contract, these things just take time.

Any good?

Also regarding young players, I'm really happy with how Van Gaal handled them. People always find excuses like they were only given chances because of injury problems but he could have easily played Rooney as striker and Herrera in the midfield or even start with Falcao but he trusted Wilson which was very pleasing to see.

City and Chelsea have excellent PR and all they did was show nice pics of their facilities and some good talents but what's the use of beautiful wife if you don't know how to have ***. At least City didn't have the luxury of dead rubbers this season, on the other hand Chelsea had a perfect chance to play few against Sporting Lisbon but jose just played some young player in the last 7-8 mins when the game was over. That's just pathetic. I would have been ****** off if ManUtd manager failed to play any young player in a dead rubber.

Supposedly in demand, but I haven't seen him play. But I guess LvG obviously thinks he's good, so atm good enough. It's excellent to see the opportunities being given to young players, and we're finally getting that allure back (had kinda dimmed recently, but yeah;;)

Lets take a look at Chelsea's youngsters. Their is Nathan Ake who hasn't played beyond Chelsea U-21s in his life. Dominic Solanke who against hasn't played beyond Chelsea U-21s in his life. Ditto for Lewis Baker and Christensen

All 4 of the afromentioned players are nowhere near good enough to play regularly for Chelsea. They are literally in the first-team squad just to occupy spots and get the odd 5-10 minutes here or there before they will probably go out on loan next season. What good will it do to let them play against Sporting, an excellent team, and let them get thrashed?

All our high calibre talent such as Chalobah and Piazon are out on loan so they can play regularly at mid-table teams or Championship clubs and if they perform well, they will get their shot at the first-team like Courtois didn
