The Manchester United Thread

I don't think the desire of LVG to dominate games will happen until we have a more complete first team 11, I mean at the moment it's still square pegs in round holes in certain places. Also I think Fellaini in midfield has been a problem, I mean yes he has certain things he offers which are obvious compared to other players, but in every game I see he is one of the players who constantly gives the ball away, particularly early periods in games when it's level so other teams are pressing more. LVG has noted that a lot of chances we give away to the opposition are from giving the ball away, often in dangerous positions.

Probably get hated by the Fellaini Police but I still don't rate him as a United midfielder, I'd rather see Herrera, Carrick and Rooney with 3 recognised CB's (if we have 3 fit) if we persist with this 3-5-2, which I hope we won't once we get some proper fullbacks fit and ready to play.

I really did like what I saw of Rooney last weekend, some of the balls he sprayed about were just something only he and very few other players can do.

IMO he is very important player to provide defensive cover and today we will see how our midfielders are just pushed away.

Also playing back 3 would be a suicide today as we need Carrick in the midfield.

Carrick is far far better at covering the defence his reading of the game is light years ahead compared to fellaini who yes does do good things but our ball retention and not just him is **** poor, we need our fullbacks fit and just put a dynamic midfielder next carrick which we currently don't have and haven't really had since keane, fletcher was very good but not top top class, ando showed up for a couple of games and looked like he could be it but otherwise zero since keane/ince.

Cough Pogba cough.

Villa have 9 men out for today. We have 5 Fellaini is missing with a bug/illness and Rojo will still be out due to his thigh strain, Rafa in contention after being left out last week after LVG said he has to pick team on merit.

Steve Bates @sbates_people Follow Breaking #mufc team: Am hearing (unconfirmed) Radamel Falcao starts in place of James Wilson and Darren Fletcher replaces Fellaini v #avfc

Few rumours in Holland that Blind was due to start training this week, but could not due to food poisoning.

Guzan
Okore - Vlaar - Clark
Lowton - Sanchez - Delph - Cissokho
Weimann - Benteke - Agbolahor

Villa team.

Fletcher :S Love his professionalism but think his playing days at United should be pretty much over, hope he can do the job today.

Keeping the ball well, doing little with it so far, this is one thing I've noticed under LVG we have a high conversion rate when it comes to chances to goals because despite them we don't actually make that many chances in games.

The lack of Herrera is real :(
Januzaj might be good for this game. None of these players a confident at taking a dribble, he might bring a spark. They have 6-7 player around RVP and Falcao, it's hard to feed them....

Vlaar is class, easily the best cb on the pitch.

Fletch and Rooney in midfield ffs is this the late fergie era.

Garbage 45 minutes again, I can't wait until we get a cb in and get shot of this 352 *****.

Pretty good on the ball, but poor creativity wise. Lambert has his tactics spot on with Wiemann man marking Rooney out the game for most parts. Really miss Fellaini today breaking up there counter attacks! Evans was shocking for there goal at marking Benteke. Still confident we will nick this one.
