The Manchester United Thread

The difference between we'd still be 4th.... and not 7th.

Thats more to do with the fact that every other club (Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool) have started very poorly and not any brilliance on Van Gaal's part. Also the huge disparity between what Moyes and LVG spent in the transfer market. However, LVG has had a lot of injuries to contend with so he still deserves more time for now

Moyes had money to spend just wasted time going after players that were unrealistic and we were never gonna get. And its not just about the inuries which has not helped. But look at my previous post as to why LVG should be given more time. People seem to souly focus on the money all the time.

Not sure how the likes of Thiago, Pogba, Vidal and Fabregas were targets that were impossible to get. First time I heard that United can't attract players. People focus on money because he did spend quite a lot and the general expectation for any manager who spends as much as LVG did is to be doing better than LVG is going currently. But as I said, injury frequency isn't helping although that might be partially self-inflicted

Yeah Moyes had money to spend he wanted Bale and Cesc were his targets and we were never gonna get Cesc coz he said himself he was never gonna leave that Summer. And kept chasing Bale despite the fact that he was going to Madrid. There was never anything in the Pogba and Vidal rumours. And Thiago wanted the chance to work with Pep again has he has said in a number of interviews. Look at what LVG has taken over to what Moyes took over. Look at LVG body language to Moyes body language. You not hearing in the papers of players complaining about this and that under LVG like we was with Moyes.

Not even sure why this time argument has come. There isnt a chance in **** he gets fired.

Not sure if we are now supposed to be hiring and firing people based on their body language now. Agreed with the relative internal stability under LVG although at the end of the day, one is judged by the results on the pitch and he has the same number of points as Moyes despite having spent significantly more. Let's see how everything pans out at the end of the season. He might end up with similar points to Moyes and yet slip into the Top 4 because of how ***** everyone else has been. Tbh, if he has had so much money to spend and such fantastic internal stability and yet can't perform better than Moyes who didn't have both, it's not very good is it

Their was quite a lot in the Pogba and Vidal rumours. Considering that Moyes had been photographed talking to their agent and being at Juventus games, I think it's safe to assume that. Also Thiago could have been gotten if Moyes moved earlier but he decided to wait and be 100% sure and Thiago slipped away. Inexperience at the top level

Im not saying that results/performances have been better but a lot of other things have. Im also not saying Moyes is a bad manager i just think he was out of his depth at Utd, and if you look at were both managers had taken over the job from the LVG is starting off in a far worse place than when Moyes took over. Mainly like you said due to lack of experience at the top level, who is to blame for that? Has to be Fergie imo for asking him to take the job. I honestly believe that if LVG had taken over from Fergie we would not of had the season of last and would still not be rebuilding the team now and be miles of challenging for the top awards.
