The Manchester United Thread

I know...People bring the fixtures up like its impending doom but i'm quite relaxed...

Won't surprise me if we outclass both chelsea and city

I'd be surprised if we outclass them. I'm expecting to get points from both games, so wouldn't be surprised if we do. Kinda expecting draw vs Chelsea and a win vs City.

Yeh, wouldn't say it's all splendid just yet, sure there is reason to be optimistic but we still have a tricky fixture list, two bad results and it's all open again. Assuming Liverpool win their next two of course.

Trust zzeezzy to rain on everyone's parade|)

Dybala, Bale, Depay and now Marquinhos all score for their clubs this weekend. #loanwatch ;)

They will half own him & loan players & loan him back for half a lifetime lol

[h=1]Herrera: My dream is to be here for a long time[/h]Ander Herrera has spelled out his desire to remain at Manchester United for many years and follow in the footsteps of a number of long-serving Reds.
The summer acquisition from Athletic Club has been in excellent form recently and won February's Player of the Month award. After starting a string of matches, he has pinned down a place in Louis van Gaal's line-up and scored twice against Aston Villa to take his season tally to seven.
In an exclusive interview with United Review, the official matchday programme, the 25-year-old midfield all-rounder made it clear that he is very content at Old Trafford.

"I’m very happy," he enthused. "Even when I was not playing, I was also happy. I am at Manchester United. I feel really lucky to be here. The manager has to decide who is playing or not but we have to respect always the decision he makes. The manager wants the best for the team, the best for us and we have to follow him always.

"When I signed for Manchester United, I was thinking of players like Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia, Rafael da Silva and, although he is not here now, Darren Fletcher. These are people who have been playing for a long time for United. It’s my dream to be here for a long time because I am in the right team, in the right league and in the right country. I feel very happy and I want to stay at the club for many years to come."

Herrera believes he has handled the change from performing in La Liga to competing in the Barclays Premier League as his first-class displays have illustrated. "I feel I quickly adapted to this league and this country because I am so comfortable here," he added. "I think [we at] Manchester United are always helping each other to adapt and to feel like we’re at home. I feel really good at United and I hope to stay here for a long time."

Just read this elsewhere. Gotta love the little fella, turning into one of my faves :)

Herrera is pure class and nearly a complete midfielder. Only thing he lacks is passing range which is weird for a Spaniard. Excellent work rate, eye for pass, touch, dribble and excellent goal threat too. His link up with Mata and Valencia is class.

Also all our summer signings are shaping up nicely.
Di Maria - Not sure why people are so agitated with him. He was the same player all the years, makes rash decisions but creates lot of chances. Second in PL assists and his assists in the last 2 games were key in getting 6/6 points.

Herrera - Started excellently then was injured. Dropped to bench for many games which was just inexcusable but at least a proper explanation was given by both Herrera and Van Gaal. He was not tactically disciplined like Van Gaal wanted and now he has improved and first name on the team sheet.

Blind - Arguably our best signing, pure class. One of the reason we have improved so much in the last few games is his passing from left back position. Blind in defense, Carrick back in the team and Smalling's new found confidence means we are very good at building from the back. At the start of the season our CBs shat bricks when they had the ball and had any opposition player near them but now they pick the passes nicely.

Rojo - He was good when Jones and Smalling were injured. I would rate him as our 2nd best CB behind Smalling. love his passion for the game and it's good to have a CB with excellent shot.

Shaw - When fit he was superb defensively. I have no concerns at all about this signing, set for LB position for a decade with little to worry. Hopefully he will improve his attacking game.

Falcao - Worst signing we have made, glad it's only a loan deal. I loved him even before we signed him, he was a hero they way he played the game was brilliant to watch but now it's so painful to watch him fall on his **** everytime. Hopefully he will be a huge success at his next club if he moves to any club bar PL clubs.

All long term signings and also our last season's signings are near un-droppable at the moment.

Good post and summary. Our signings this season have been class. Blind and Rojo is great value for money imo as well with Shaw to considering the years we will get out of him. Don't get the Di Maria hate same as you! Shocking tbh he was on fire at the start of season, then got injured and had stuff off field to deal with and that will effect any player not to mention new country, cant speak English when signed and playing in a new league and team with no confidence at all after last season. And with all this still been one of our key players and top assisters this season. Boy just wait till he is fully on it and playing with confidence and and settled, hes gonna destroy any defence in the league next season :)

Love Herrera's style, he's been saying from the time he arrived here that he wanted to emulate Paul Scholes (well, let's face it, who wouldn't), but Herrera will turn fan favourite really quickly. And it's nice to hear a player talk about the club in such a manner, you rarely see it nowadays with players and agents worried that it'll influence contract situation.

Really no weakness to his game tbh. And when were playing like we are now on form and flying I can see him getting 10 gls plus from CM season after season which will be massive bonus to us winning games and getting good goal difference.
