The Manchester United Thread

Don't forget Untied created more chances than Chelsea. If there was some other striker rather than Falcao, result might be different. I'm happy with performance, not happy with result. But not to fussed about that. Key thing is to get into CL and then next season if Chelsea plays like this, I have no worries they will concede at least couple of goals.

Exactly...united fans should be optimistic

Since Opta started, this game was Chelsea's lowest possession recorded. Shame about the goal though, could have been such a memorable game.

Very pleased with the performance yesterday tbh. Mc Nair and Shaw very impressive, Smalling is turning into a top draw CB now also. Herrera showed he can certainly play that deeper role, so composed on the ball in tight spaces. My only fear yesterday was Rooney dropping into CM and not being up top and I think that's what cost us. Not a peno imo.

Chelsea defend deep and score a jammy goal, then it's Jose' master plan. When West Ham did the same thing against Chelsea, he was crying about 19th century football and all that nonsense.

That's football though, once you win you can spout any bullshit and fans will lap it up saying how it was planned.

We created more chances, dominated possession, were the better team but like LVG says the winner takes it all.

Not bitter at all!

Well to be honest I don't see how anyone sets it out strategically in Jose's own words exactly like yesterday's game, you don't want the opposing team to have more chances, even if you're not bothered about the possession factor.

Well when we were winning games unconvincingly albeit trying to play possession football people were only talking about how terrible and lucky we are. Even when we are on an unbeaten run the media were still slaughtering LVG as if he knows nothing about football.

It's all about the reputation that you've built, Mourinho had built himself up to be a defensive first manager and whenever he wins a big game by defending deep the whole media blows it up to be a masterclass. LVG on the other hand loves to attack, and when his team doesn't attack as well suddenly they're ****. Journalists most of the time lack the intelligence to look at things beyond the obvious such as reputation.

You can hardly call our goal jammy, if you're going to go down that road then I can say De Gea was lucky to still be on the pitch, it works both ways.

Hardly a jammy goal to be fair. It was very well worked with some magic from Hazard and Oscar showing great understanding. I agree with you though broadly speaking although that's football. When you won so many trophies and manage a team that has absolutely dominated the EPL this season, you do have greater liberty to say things

United have improved a lot this season although it will be interesting to see how they manage next season with CL and league cup on the platter. This season they only had 2 competitions to focus on with the wealth of talent in their squad. Next season will be even tougher particularly if Chelsea and City improve in the summer which they will, especially city
