The Manchester United Thread

Just as we were feeling sad about yesterday here comes Brenda and the amazing Lfc to cheer everybody up!

Gotta love them

he has a point, and a very good one.

Which is? The goal wasn't jammy, you could tell from this entire season's football that it was Mourinho's plan (and not some Jose worshipper retcon of events) and although Mourinho is indeed a hypocrite, it has nothing to do with the other two points.

I'd be happy with either, can't be too fussy when you still have Evans at the club.

But one thing that worries me slightly is that it might hinder the development of Smalling and Jones as a partnership, I've always liked them two together. Not saying they won't still get the odd opportunity here and there, but it would be less. Then again I suppose you have to consider that relying on a partnership of Jones and Smalling wouldn't last long cos one of them always seems to be injured when the other isn't.

Mourinho denied credit after defensive masterclass - We Ain't Got No History

Maybe it's time they took a look at this. Yes it's biased and exaggerated but it adds a different perspective to events. It's one thing saying we played like west ham when our performance was anything but that

Was a good goal but foul on Falcao so shouldn't of even happened.

This is precisely what Ive been trying to say even in my post during the match. Same points are made in the 16 conclusions article Ive linked earlier.

Imho we got a great manager, one of the best. But NOT the best. The best is Mou and has been for quite some time now.

I don't see how it was a defensive masterclass when we were not negated, we had quite a few good chances to score. I'd understand the title 'defensive masterclass' if we got restricted to less chances than Chelsea.

Well obviously no one bothered to read it. I find it funny that some United fans criticize our performance despite the fact that their have been so many times this season that they just grinded out the win despite the other team dominating the game. **** that's something that has happened under the ferguson era as well and won you titles

Most of those chances were from long range. We were very passive, and our strongest threat was Luke Shaw marauding the left flank, past Branislav Ivanovic.

The term bend-but-don't-break is applicable. Yes, Chelsea conceded chances, but that's what happens when you play a style of football like they did. You're inviting the opposition to score against you. That's generally how counter-attacking works. Of course that will invariably mean that the opposition will at some point get some good chances.

I wouldn't call any of the chances you had clear-cut except maybe Falcao. Also I explicitly stated that the article is slightly exaggerated so the title is misleading

Can't remember who it was but we had a clear header from a corner that should of been scored, Rooney missed one from just outside of the box when should of scored, Falcao was similar to Hazard, in his older days I think he would of done better there. That's just literally off the top of my head, in my mind they were pretty clear opportunities.

West Ham piled bodies into the box and then prayed to Jesus for 90 minutes that Chelsea wouldn't score helped by some heroics by their GK. They had no intention of winning the game. Chelsea had a proper system in place to negate United's biggest strengths such as putting Zouma into the midfield to negate Fellaini and then captialising on mistakes which we did with hazard and nearly with Drogba. Stop conflating the two

Also when you consider the form United were in heading into the game and how badly Chelsea were playing, I can't blame Mourinho for being defensive and it worked

We can go back and forth all day long. I would argue that Drogba would have absolutely smashed in his 1-on-1 chance in his older days and hazard should have tapped it in regardless. At the end of the day, we nullified your biggest strengths and capitalized on your mistakes noting the fact that we were terribly off-form as a team. It wasn't a jammy win as you would like to portray it

I haven't said it was jammy but I don't buy the defensive masterclass or Chelsea fans liking watch that style of play, basically saying you prefer watching the rival team play the better football.

And you can see the people who are criticizing Chelsea are the same people who also criticized ManUtd this season when we played **** and won the game.

When we won against Southampton, Arsenal no one called that as master plan or anything close to that. Most United fans said we were lucky and performance was ****. We didn't go on and on about it was all planned.

Also I made a post explaining this but by mistake I navigated away from that page and lost the post. Was not arsed to type it again.

Winning in PL doesnt mean he is the best. There is football outside PL.

I genuinely don't care about the style of play. Sure I am constantly annoyed for 90 minutes when we just sit back but when we win, I am happy for a week. I rather not go back to the AVB era where we were treated to some thrilling football at times but also more than our fair share of losses ending up finishing 6th

He was won in pretty much all the major leagues you could think off. Whether is the best is obviously arguable. I would say it's between him and Ancelloti

I still have high hopes for Jones but he does not seem to de developing as well as Smalling. Always got a iffy back pass in him or losses the ball trying to bring it out, maybe just gonna take longer to reach his level.

I wasn't referring to you if you thought that. I never said Chelsea's performance was good. I actually clarified that this idea of 'defensive master class' was exaggerated. But to say that Chelsea just sat back and hung on for dear life before scoring a jammy goal is incredibly unfair characterization
