If you have title aspirations it is

If you're (IMHO, realistically) looking at consolidating the top 4 place and continuing to build this year; then you have the wiggle room of Chelsea's abysmal start, L'pool's shocking result today and Arsenal's indifferent start.

Consolidating top 4? We're not Arsenal.

Our aim last season was getting back into the top 4.

Now our aim this season is to win the Premier League, but most would be happy if it's a strong challenge pushing the leaders all the way I imagine.

Thought you had yourself down as nowhere near challenging without a centre back and striker addition?

Whether I see us as capable is irrelevant, the aim and ambition this season is to win the Premier League. If LVG thinks the current team can do it then he thinks different to me, but still, the aim is to win the Premier League regardless.

Oh, OK. Then I agree. And the aim of my own club should aways be the same. To win the League. Our respective history's demand that.

But realistically, this year we aren't going to be doing that. Nor ultimately challenging. And I don't see Utd in much different a boat given the weakness' in the key areas that concern yourself.

That was what I was trying to say in who I replied to. His point was related to how you realistically see Utd's season going. Not what should be expected regardless because of who we are.

How one views a realistic expectation is down to individual interpretation I guess. Shrugs.

I don't necessarily think we can if we don't get in one or two more players before the window shuts but I know that's the aim for this season. Definitely not to 'consolidate top 4'.

Without trying to turn this into another United vs Liverpool debate I think our expectations and goals for this season are going to be totally different to yours this season.

I'd like to think we're both better than that in discussion but that's fine.

We all see things differently.

One thing I'm most definitely not getting into is the game in 2 weeks. You've had the Indian sign over us in individual games in the main for longer than I care to remember, and our luck is completely none existent at OT no matter how well we play on the day.

So I wouldn't dare tempt fate in even hoping for something from the game lol.

I just hope for a good game with no serious injuries. What will be will be.

If that's accurate, and he goes with nobody coming in, Van Gaal is getting more and more bizarre.

I highly doubt he has been told that if there is no one coming in. That would leave us with... two strikers? Rooney and Wilson. Arguably three at a big push if you included Depay.

Any sneaky feelings on who??

Not a clue. Unless someone in Europe cottons onto it. Hernandez has been on his way out for a year. Only reason it changed was because they couldnt find an alternative. For Hernandez to go up now means they have that, whether is internally (januzaj or Fellaini) or externally.

Ive just read somewhere that we ve sent officials to paris for transfer business. Anybody else seen anything of this?

No idea. But this, and I stress this is my own theory, supposed player coming in could be Gotze.

Coman is on his way to Bayern from Juve to allow Draxler to move from Schalke. It's a loan with a obligation to buy, so Bayern WILL have to buy him outright.

Yeah but they wont have to pay up till the end of this season. Even then Italian press are reporting an option to buy, not an obligation.

Why would Bayern have to sell on top of that? Ribery is 32, Robben 31, Alonso 34, there clearly moving these lot in to replace the old guard, i doubt they'd bring Gotze in for a long term plan and then let him go surely? Be a strange one to let him leave, but we've seen weirder.. :)

Would be ballsy move to get rid of Chicharito and not bring a replacement. Then again, he really blew his chance with that Newcastle miss, and those 2 vs. Brugge.

Wilson is a thriling prospect, Fellaini would work with longballs, and Januzaj as a striker can do his embarrasing dives in the box and maybe get a pen or two. But whether any of those 3 is ready to be a starter.....ugh.

Ribery is most likely done for. He hasn't been able to play since March, and story just broke out that he's out for entire first part of the season. So almost full year without playing or training, at 33...that's career ending injury if I ever saw one.

So at this point Gotze would look extremely unlikely.
