The Manchester United Thread

That is actually not true, Navas is a very good keeper and would be a great replacement for us with little time to do anything else. He's much better than Romero or Johnstone, even Madrid fans want him to stay.

He doesn't have the ceiling De Gea does but Navas is quality goalkeeper nonetheless.

Navas would be a great replacement regardless tbh.

Considering how much LVG likes Navas, United simply must end the window with him in the side.

I'm wondering if the deal hinges on Navas turning up tbh.

Well... some are saying he doesn't want to leave..... but if he now knows De Gea is going in.... what does he even want to stay for? The bench I'm sure he knows.

He definitely doesn't want to leave, but he may not have any choice except to sit on the bench. On the other hand, I would cancel the deal unless Navas arrives.

Be interesting to see how the fans react

Now Deschamps is apparently content with allowing Hugo Lloris to leave the France squad in order to push a move through to Manchester United.

Their fans are fickle as **** and to be honest that's none of our concern. More to the point how are our fans going to react if we lose De Gea with no Navas? If it's anything like me then it won't be pleasant.

He's a good solid keeper, however he isn't massively better than Romero and isn't United quality in terms of a starting keeper. As I've said, he isn't anywhere near Cech, Courtois, De Gea, Neuer or Buffon. I wouldn't even put him next to the next bracket of keepers (Hart, Lloris, Forster, Ter Stegen).

I'm not entirely sure if I want a player that does not want to join us. I mean if we are begging for Navas to join us we might as well look elsewhere. It's not like he's world class anyway.

Not gonna happen. Spurs have just named him captain and you wouldn't sell a player days after naming him captain. Why would they want to sell anyway?

Navas was voted La Liga's best goalkeeper in 2013/14 ahead of Thibaut Courtois. It was only that he agreed a move to Real Madrid that severely limited his playing time compared to what it was at Levante.

That should be enough to prove he is a very capable 'keeper.

Lloris isn't happening, Deschamps just said that if a bid was made and accepted he'd allow him to leave duty to complete deal.

Tbh I'm not that keen on him anyway. Rather have Navas.

They wouldn't but money talks and he wants champions league football.

But it's Levy, no chance he'll sell to one of the big 4.

yeah but you always overreact. not exactly the best gauge of anything.

True, but in this circumstance I know I'm right that it would be disastrous for us to lose De Gea and not have Navas. Ultimately ending up with Romero and Johnstone for the season.

If there's a swap involved in De Gea deal, I'd much rather have Kiko Casilla over Navas. The former is very dominant in the air and should fit in PL better and quicker.

That still doesn't change the fact that he isn't United first team quality.

i would say this is the first time in about 13 months you would be right to be annoyed.

We'll find out soon enough. But Navas could well be announced much later than De Gea. IF it happens. our window is longer.
