The Manchester United Thread

I'm just being practical here. Last minute goalkeeper transfers are problematic by themselves, and on top of that foreign goalkeepers always struggle to adapt to PL's aerial bombardment. I don't think United can afford signing a midget goalkeeper who may take half a year to adapt. Casilla can walk in and play his best on day one, because this is what he does. He's great shot stopper and a big, commanding figure at the back.

I can see where you're coming from on that one, but even the context of the league taken into account I still don't think he's as good. The aerial threat of the PL is somewhat overstated IMO.

It's like school. You do homework/assignments last day

You don't want to be that guy who is doing the essay the night before, stuck in the library doing research and trying to pull it altogether or you're ******. You want to be the one who has been working on it consistently for a while, can finish the work they have left with no pressure and can enjoy a nice cold pint whilst your peers scrabble around in panic.

Only an anticlimax if you are obsessed with the big name.

I'm not and neither am i saying these are bad signings but all the billy big bollox talk from woody again, i suppose it's fans own faults for being naive in the hope we'd sign some top quality.

don't believe the hype. Fans always do this. Even bastian was a 4/10 chance when that started

That would be perfect for him and Utd to assess long term if you get a guarantee that he'll play a good percentage.

But would leave you a man down right now in an already paper thin area in terms of bodies when todays ins and outs are completed.

Yup. And Wilson looked pretty good every time he played last season. Quick, direct, always looking for a shot, not afraid of running at defenders. Exactly what they would need. So lets loan him out. What is even going.

Even if Mane and Martial are good signings, don't see us getting any closer to the title or even the top 2.

Teams still in the same position for me, decent first 12-15, rest is meh compared to City/Chelsea squad strength but that's about it.They'll still be 3rd-4th shoot out with Arsenal, and if Liverpool/Spurs can get there **** together.

Can anyone take another day of this? Typical Sky Sports News going to milk this drama all day tomorrow of the English transfer window.

In any other circumstance I'd not be against it. But when we're thin on attacking options already it is not a very wise thing to do unless you're getting players in. By that I mean one or two as well as Martial.

Idk. We're not really thin on attacking options, just thin on quality attacking options. Rooney, Wilson, Depay, Young, Herrera, Mata, Valencia. Young and Valencia are the weak links there, but they are more about the "Cross to Felliani" tactic. While Wilson still needs to develop more.

I agree though. We should get 1 or 2 more in. Martial would be okay, but would prefer someone more experienced.

Also about something earlier. Martial costing £36million is a gamble for most teams. Not for Man Utd with the amount of money we can throw around. Even less so with a net spend of £0. Maybe even in profit with DDG sale.

Type his last name, where is your adventurous spirit!
Blazszczkowski off the top of my head.

I just want a player who delivers. Two of our best players cost 13m and game from Moscow and Monaco

Yeh but I wouldn't be convinced about him that he would.

If we did take a gamble mayswell throw cash at someone of higher calibre OR someone younger like Mauro Icardi from Inter who could be great eventually.

Pointless and hypothetical but imagine if fergie was willing/had this type of money to spend. We'd probably see a bunch of gems but also a couple of anderson and klebersons.

The season has barely started! City don't have the greatest squad strength in all areas. Namely central midfield and out wide. They've hit a hot streak, however I don't think it will last forever. Chelsea will get their **** together and Arsenal are just out of form and on a rare scoreless streak. United will challenge, provided as long as an alternative to Blind is found in central defence.

He has always had money to spend. It was never an issue of not being able to afford players.

In this situation and context, we would probably see roughly similar. Only De Gea would not have been drawn out this long. Him nor Gill would never stand for it.

I don't think the exodus would be as big nor would we have signed two cm's.....

Januzaj has had nowhere near enough development time through first team games. IF he plays practically every week at Dortmund it will do him the world of good. He will come back a completely different player

They have a good squad - Im worried he wont be playing a lot which is what he needs
