The Manchester United Thread

"So more like a Spanish Luke Shaw except he hasn’t already been snapped up by Manchester United and, obviously, he hasn’t got a broken leg."

Journalism makes me vomit every time I see such a rude, nonsense article. These clowns really think it's funny?

Goddamit.

Commented on the post btw:

You're acting like he's been shanked in the mid of a prison riot and is bleeding out on the floor, or crippled for life. He's suffered a bad injury, nothing more nothing less. It's unfortunate for England and United but this sanctimonious wailing really irritates me.

Forgot your pills this morning, mate?

It is sanctimonious wailing. Wilshere completely ****** himself yet again yesterday and no one is going to be tiptoeing around that. If it had been the result of an absolutely awful tackle or if the opponent had done it deliberately, then maybe you'd expect a bit of graciousness but it wasn't.

Worst still is seeing fans of other clubs saying how utterly terrible it is and how genuinely sorry they are, then trying to force that view on everyone because they want to be le classy internet football fans. It's embarrassing.

I'm curious how the team will set up now. Depay on the left is a disaster waiting to happen without Shaw protecting the flank with his ridicolous pace and power. Neither Rojo nor Blind will be able to cope with how often Memphis just loses the ball.

I would either play Young at LB or at LW and move Memphis elsewhere. The former is preferable, otherwise you suddenly have Depay-Herrera-Mata-Martial-Lindegard-Wilson-Fellaini-Pereira, all competing for 2 remaining spots in the attacking 4, since Van Gaal won't bench Rooney. That's way too much people with not nearly enough playtime to keep them all happy.

Broken leg is terrible no matter which club you support.

Shaw's injury was because of awful tackle and few are concerned about it. There is nothing wrong with that.

Bigger worry is will Van Gaal break the CB pair that did so well till now or will shift Blind to LB?

When season started my ideal CB pairing was Rojo Smalling, now with how Blind has played I would settle for Smalling Blind combination and Rojo as LB.

Who the **** is talking about Wilshere here? As you wisely stated, Wilshere's leg wasn't broken in half by sick tackle (it was Gabriel at first place), why did you even mentioned it?

You're throwing this sanctimonious wailing **** at anybody who's trying to defend the club he supports and which is currenty under fire by blind and deaf journalists.

So, if you simply misread my first post or if you have absolutely nothing to add to this apart from this meaningless chirping, leave it.

Merci.

Yeah, plus imho Rojo was excellent as LB at the World Cup. See him as Shaw's deputy, definitely.

Because people will happily make jokes about Wilshere, even though his chronic issues are far more tragic from a neutral point of view. Which is a good thing really: this is generally one of the few places on the internet where you can discuss football without people going wildly over the top and demanding that everyone in the world be deferential to their club, their problems, their needs.

For this to be about defending the club, there would have to be an actual attack. You call them deaf and blind journalists because they made, at worst, a mildly inappropriate comment about Shaw. Even then, it's not really anything. They just said that a player is very similar to Luke Shaw, except he isn't injured. You're blowing the entire thing out of proportion. I'm all for criticising the media when it's wrong, but come on that article did not merit as hysterical a response as: "journalism makes me vomit every time I see such a rude, nonsense article. These clowns really think it's funny?"

Won't moving Young to left back just make that problem even worse? Against the more talented wingers in the league he'll get ripped to shreds. Will be interesting to see if Van Gaal sacrifices Rooney or Depay for the great good.

If LVG was going to keep the Smalling-Blind partnership and put Rojo at LB wouldnt he have done that last night? I honestly dont understand his thinking sometimes. Even his subs are bad. We might as well think we only have two subs coz every game around 60 minutes he changes one of Carrick/Schweinsteiger/Schneiderlin for whichever one of those 3 is on the bench, regardless of performance. Leaving us with only 2 subs to change a game if needed.

IMO we need to stop doing this passing the ball across the box until we lose it **** and start getting it out wide and either put crosses in or run at the defender into the box and commit them. Im at a point now where I dont want people in the team because of their name or playing people out of position just to get them in the team. Id rather stick Lingard on the right and Young on the left and watch them run at fullbacks and commit them and hopefully produce something, than see Mata, Herrera and Depay pass from right-to-left, left-to-right outside the box before being crowded out and tackled.

LVG is trying his hardest to completely **** up his last job and turning united into the most boring side in the country with no metal for the fight back.

Never confident these days we'll get something when trailing. But we win the possession and passing lads.

Well thats tough isnt it (that it irritates you I mean). How the **** do you know its sanctimonious? I say its not. Having seen what happened, the reaction of the players and the pictures of the leg hanging (and having a bit of historical background knowledge about similar bone breaks) I think Raz's reaction (and mine - I was the first to post here to say I was almost in tears) was/is VERY justified.

We are talking about a very young boy, who has already suffered a lot from injuries and who relies a lot on pace for his effectiveness (something necessary for his wb role as well) ... I say there is a good chance he will at least not turn into the player he was going to be if he loses a whole season at this crucial time in his development (when he was beginning to "fly") if not worse.

So yes, take a chill pill mate.

Which is great, but look at what he's actually quoting. A player profile that says he's Luke Shaw without the broken leg? How on earth is his reaction in anyway proportional to what they said? As for it being sanctimonious, I'm pretty sure most United fans had no problem when the press were actively making fun of players like Wilshere and Diaby.

I get why you guys are upset but it's ludicrous to lash out at people for not treating the situation with utter deference.

Well, Its the same wingers that he's been battling already. He should be fine.

That, and the alternatives are even worse. Depay on the left wing is a big, fat, **** NO right now. Young on the left wing leaves 8 players competing for 2 positions, and that's a ticking time bomb waiting to happen.

Going to be very tough issue to crack.

Wouldn't think so after 250m or whatever that he's spent, you'd think the squad would be sound all over.

Yep, it is. A double fracture, out until March, April at least.

I just couldn't really get yesterday's scenes out of my head...that tackle and the expression on Moreno's face after he saw what he did. Shivering.
If feel sooo sorry for him. That reminded me of Aaron Ramsey's leg break a few years ago. As soon as I saw Moreno's face, I pretty much knew what had happened straight away. That sent Shawcross to tears.

Wouldn't be such a problem if Depay was a consistent threat as well. You feel like some midtable clubs could take a cheeky gamble on him having an off day, push aggressively down that wing and really hammer United. Definite potential to drop points.

I'm pretty sure he's just going to play Blind at LB and just rotate Young in for Depay in the big games though.

In my opinion, as an Arsenal fan there are two sides of this. It would be hypocritical to criticise that statement if you have no issues with other injury prone players such as Jack Wilshere being subject to numerous jokes. Jack Wilshere has spent 3 years of his career injured and counting from multiple fractures on different parts of his ankle, yet it's fine for him to be subject to numerous jokes from opposition fans. 6 months later, Luke Shaw's fibula will be just as good as it was yesterday. With Jack Wilshere, his ankles with never be the same due to injuries sustained at 19. On the other hand, the reaction was in no way proportional to what he said. To suggest that the writer should die for plainly referring to the injury is way out of proportion. People are way more sensitive to fractures that they are damaged ligaments, muscles or tendons. For example, a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament can permanently affect mobility. If the injury is sustained a second time, the victim may be unable to walk or run properly forever.
