That near chance there is created by Rooney's movement more than Martial's pass. Rooney's movement and timing of the run is excellent there. When Martial hits the ball, Rooney doesn't know the keeper has come out to intercept. If he touches the ball, that early, he takes the ball too wide and the chance is gone. It's just a great bit up goalkeeping and Rooney being unlucky that the pass was inches away.
United have had creativity issues under Van Gaal. You cut exactly blame Rooney for that. Fact is a striker is much sharper on form and that he isn't going to get any form without chances. There's something fundamentally wrong when 2 player from a rival create more that your whole squad! United's attacking play lacks fluidity and cohesion.
You got to repeat it few more times. You haven't said it enough times.
Attack lacks cohesion because of the player who is leading it. He has declined physically, his first touch is gone, his short passing is terrible now, he can't leather the ball as he used to before.
No one is denying ManUtd are poor attacking this year but ManUtd captain is not helping the cause and is their worst player. He should be dropped just like any other player.
Oh btw, you are just wrong. That chance was created because of Martial's vision. Any striker worth his salt will make that run and that includes even non league and sunday league players.
