The Manchester United Thread

Yes you haven't won trophies for 2 seasons now but that doesn't necessarily mean Mourinho is the answer. He is nothing but a quick fix and he won't last long. If Pep does go to City, then you will really be throwing yourself into a volcano by hiring Jose. Pep is the one who always managed to bring out the absolute worst side of Mourinho. Trophies is important but so is having a good image that sponsors and commercial partners want to be associated with

And what guarentee is there that Jose will even win trophies if Pep is heading the City machine and Chelsea manages to attract Simeone. With Klopp at Liverpool, Jose will be up against three managers against whom his record stinks and who have achieved more in the last few years in the context of the resources they had available

Plus I don't think Jose exactly is ready to take tough decisions. He won't give youth a chance for sure. He has his favourite players whom he will never drop and his time at Chelsea showed he can be incredibly stubborn to a style of play like LVG and refuse to change

But if you hire him then that's one less club for Simeone which is fine with me. At this point, it looks like Chelsea who are going to be empty handed in the managerial merry go round in the summer

Now Jose is everything that was wrong with football. Something that you never would have agreed with 3-4 months back.

ManUtd manager is very huge than it looks and it needs a very strong character. I'm not saying Jose is the only one we should be going for but looks like he is the best of the bunch available.

Pep is not available.
Ancelotti is Bayern manager
Simeone won't leave Atletico, not to PL anyways. When he does it will be Chelsea IMO. Also he doesn't speak word of English.

Someone said Rudi Garcia, dude is clueless manager when it comes to big games.

I won't mind if ManUtd try for someone like Unai Emery, I always liked his teams.

I would rather see Jose at helm than Van Gaal for only reason, Van Gaal team is boring me a lot and the 90 mins is like a nightmare.

Now I am happy to revise everything I said if it actually looked like he learned something from his Chelsea and Madrid debacle. But just glance at his statement after being sacked and you know he has not

What statement? I searched, couldn't find it.

Hopefully he called out Hazard, Cesc and Costa.

That was me, more because of the point how much I didn't want Mourinho at United. He won't solve the issues we have right now, he may bring some success but he won't bring back our playing identity.

Yes, him leading Chelsea to the relegation spots and single-handedly destroying my club image does that to a person. I still like him but obviously not as much as I once used to

Jose doesn't really play that much exciting football either tbh. Have you seen our games this year? It has bored everyone shitless and he had Hazard, Oscar and Fabregas at his disposal. You think he will work wonders with off-form Rooney and Fellaini. Yes Simeone doesn't speak English but his No.2 does so it wouldn't be all that bad. Plus it will give you an edge for Griezzmann and Koke which are the sort of players you need

United board ****** themselves over by not chasing big managerial targets but solution is not Mourinho. I still think you are in with a chance for Pep albeit a small one. Unai Emery is an excellent option. I have been shouting about him since 2011. Pocchetino is well worth taking a look at but Levy is a ***** to negotiate with. Favre maybe?

Nice comments in October..

I don't see anything wrong with that statement, so I don't understand "He didn't learn seeing his statement" part.

Compare it with other statements that managers make when they are sacked. Especially those that have just led their club to relegation spots. Not even a word of thanks to owner who stood by him through numerous controversies and paid him the highest salary for a manager. Not even a tokenistic 'Unfortunately results were disappointing but I wish I had more time but I respect owners decision' line. Not thanking players or staff either which shows he completely lost the support of nearly everyone which is rather scary

Instead it took petty attacks claiming how Chelsea was the only club who sacked him. No Madrid did that too. How he hope to re-enter the game immediately as some sort of warning for what we missed out. That also indicates he does not think he did anything wrong because he does not want time to reflect and learn like Garry Monk or Rodgers has decided to do.

TBF, I ideally felt like he wanted to leave when i looked at his press conferences nearing the end of his real madrid tenure

So what's the feeling on Pep?

Surely Utd are going to go in REAL hard for him now regardless of any City interest? SURELY?

I don't really know if United can get Pep tbh.

Ignoring all that idealistic romantic nosense about how Pep likes traditions and youth academies, City has better squad, they'll pay more and they've been courting him for years now. Would he rather manage squad that has Silva, Aguero, KDB and Sterling, or a squad that has Carrick and Fellaini?

Considering the people connected with City are people who used to work at Barcelona and that Pellegrini/Pep were conveninetly both given 3 year contracts, I think it's all too coincidental that he will be going to Man City.

I feel you are just nitpicking his statement.

And many do not. Interpret it as you will. It's quite clear that it is significantly different from statements we usually see from managers who just got sacked after managing a team the way he did

I am not sure what went on there. Did Woodward think Pep would just come as soon as United came calling? Is that why he didn't bother courting him much?

Or has United been courting Pep just as actively as City but are currently losing? It will be interesting to see if we can get further insights on this

Anyways Sunil, whatever said and done, if you still want Jose even though you know Pep is returning and you know the huge acrimony that exists between them ... Well you made your own bed. I really doubt it will work out well for United eventually and I think you know that too
